I think you'll find its the games that are challenging rather than the characters themselves
I used to get NOM sometimes, they did actually imprve themselves a while ago in that they started writing proper review rather than a few pages filled with little pictures and a captions and stuff. I love NGC and always buy it, they have the humour and style that suits me and even if they do give bad reviews to sonic games I dont quite frankly care.

I have bought only a few issues of NOM and I think that it's a good mag altough they have given some Sonic games bad reviews.
However, there is a Nintendo Magazine called NGC, and they have given nearly every Sonic game a low score which is why I never buy this magazine.
Dan Baxter told me about this magazine and even he says he will never buy the magazine again.

For that six English pounds, however, you get a great demo disc. Re: The Gamecube. Many people consider the Gamecube the "choice of the hardcore". BS. "Hardcore" is a term made up by idiots to justify their ridiculous choices. Not that I dislike the Gamecube, it's host to some wonderful games, but people are now buying it because it's considered "hardcore", and finding they don't like the games. I personally adore Viewtiful Joe, Monkey Ball etc, but most gamers hate them. Fact. They prefer games such as Vice City, and good for them, that game is amazing. People should not be critiqued for the games they enjoy, only for their views on other games. But Then Gamecube has games to suit the realistic/ blood and gore factor as well. Resident evil, Mortal Kombat, Hitman, Medal of honnor. James Bond. some brillient "serious" games.

I have read in a recent issue of NOM, that someone wrote in telling them they hate Sonic.
What astounds me is that NOM actually allowed that letter to be published!!!
This annoyed me, altough the person does have his own opinions.

Sega Vs Nintendo really was a great rivalry back in the day, and also the closest. But people like NOM are real gits at handling such things.
When Dave McComb was the editor (and egotistical self-proclaimed Pokémaniac champion - hurrah for street cred!) things were pretty cool, normally the worst the issue got was calling the Dreamcast the Dreampants or the Playstation the Greystation. But after Tim "Teeth like Wickets" Street took over, it turned into the CBBC of games mags. Trying to be "hip" and "trendy", whilst making cra pjokes, introducing loads of minor swearing and sex references, and just being pants. Yeah Tim, I know Rouge has big boobs, you not seen any before? Jesus.
Edge, on the other hand, are just complete I-wish-I-could-swear-on-this-forums. They act as if they hate videogames and they're being forced to write the mag or something.
See the Xbox Mag thread I'm about to make for more info.

Well, despite Tim's size, he is a young adult and properbly immautre for his age. Hopefully he'll grow up and the mag will be better again. Though at some point, Tim had to leave to get married and Dean Scott took over for a month, and the mag seemed a bit better.
But I'd think Kingsly should be in charge, I mean, come on! He's a Star Wars fan! (joke). Seriously now, if what I hear is true, then he's the oldest of the staff. And when I read his reviews, they're actually proper good reviews. Not just "this is better then that" almost the whole way through, or just a basic overview on the game's plot.

OMG. I was just reading last month's issue of NOM and this person sent them a text message saying this: "I am like the biggest sonic fan ever. I desperately need a GC to play SADX and SAB2!" Now, you can't get a bigger Sonic fan than that!!! Kiel

Cut the crap.
Anyway.
NOM is a good read IMO - it doesn't wilfully bash Sonic - that's the readers. Yes, one of the staff members is not a fan but that's his choice. Remember also the age range the magazine is aimed at - about the same as PSMAX. Kids like [censored] gags.

I think NOM is a good read. It shows you when the new gamecube games are out and they give good free gifts like the chain chomb
