This problem im about to report is happening throughout all stores and its so bad that there could be a law to stop the employees from doing it, the place I work at has measures to stop this but they have a big loophole.
anyway today I was at the Comet officies and I overheard that a salesman of one of the stores who had been relieved of duty pending a serious investigation. the allegation is that this salesman bragged to his workmates about making a £9000 profit by selling some ps2's on ebay,
what he has done is this, The comet store got a delivery of some brand new slimline ps2's, when the salesman arrived at the store at 8am he imediately placed deposits down on a few of them, when the tills opened he paid for them all (under different names) and then had them delivered to his home. he then sold them on ebay making around a £200-£300 profit using the buy it now option! the thing that has comet mad is that the store in question is now completely sold out of slimline ps2's until next january. the salesman in question was found to have sold 46 ps2s over ebay in order to make £9000 profit.
And there is nothing you can do about it, because its perfectly legal because of the way he did it.

Hang on, if he's paying for them under different names wouldn't that be classed as fraud?

How can be fraud if he pays the games? But he is buying them under different names so he is lying to the shop about his true identity so it may be fraud.

Ah it seems I made a little error here, he didnt pay for the consoles under different names. he booked them under different names. you know when oh lets say the new GTA comes out the shops let you put a £1 deposit down so you dont have to stress on the day of release, well because he knew when the consoles were being delivered on the day they came to the store he put 42 different names down on 42 PS2's but he paid for them under his own name.
its not abuse of power because any customer could come in on the day and say "you got any PS2's" and then buy them all. however what makes this slightly controversial is that because he is employeed at the store he naturally gets there before the doors open and knows what stock is in, however because he did his transactions the moment the store opened his status falls under a customer of comet plc, making it legal.
