Whose played it yet? If it's anything like the first game it's going to be confusing and frustrating in the beginning, then get better and more exciting as you go through it, shoot cops, assinate people, etc, etc...
So what do you lot think about it?

I played it. It's pretty bad, actually. Buggy as Hell, plus you only get to 'heal' a couple of times per level. It's looks quite nice, but there's little else to recommend it. The first one was a bit of a landmark - a real flawed gem of a game. Black Monday is just more of the same, with additional problems, which means the developers haven't learnt anything in the past two years. Stick with GTA.

I thought it might be something like that. The first game wasn't so bad, bugs ahoy, yeah, but once you got over the fact that everyone knows where to go apart from you it actually gets quit fun, like a cultered GTA (if thats even possible! ) as well as the fact that you can heal yourself fully whenever you want and stealth mode makes it enjoyable. But what do you mean you can only heal a few times in a level? I hope they give you more health if that's the case.

Kintobork (I like your new name! ), reviews don't choose the games you buy, you do. I like the Getaway myself (I mean, how many times will you see Trafalgar Square and Picadilly in one game?) and the bugs don't bother me too much. So if you like the first game, go buy it, don't let a review stop you.

he well I have it and soon I shall play, it, glad you like the name (though for some reason it reset to kintobor) anyway, I will play it tommorow, at post however, on a difficulty rating how would you compare it to one?

Well, I can't comment on the second game since I haven't played it myself, but if it's anything like the last game:
Unless you're used to the style of the game, you'll find even the first mission very difficult. The fact that you're character is quite slow, but very accurate with most weapons. The driving should be no problem, it's the battles that are hard. You only have a little health, and a shotgun at close range should kill you straight away, but, once you are used to stealth mode, picking up guns, using cover, rolling and all that, you should have no troubles.

the first getaway was ausome, one of my favourite games ever, the game play was wel designed, and the healing system was good as it forced you to think before you shoot, I just hope the second game mirrors everything that was good,

Go and play the game, and tell me about it, cause I've got 50 quid right now and I don't know what to do with it.

have played the game and am currently on chapter 3. the game so far seems solid and an equal to the first game, thought as yet it doesn't surpass it. spoiler so you start the game as the police officer for the game, sargent michel, as you have to take down a gang of the colins crew how are dealing drugs on the yardies turf.
after this you get a cut scene of the police sation before driving, to a boxing club were shots are being fired, on arrival you find the colins crew again in a fight with an un known group,
as that misson you come to a misson against some east european car thivies, here I died, so I can't go on. as specualred by many, in the getaway 2 so far at lest it seems you can only rewst for a certain amount of time per-misson altought the manul say there are packs of medicine around the levels again secret modes and how to unlock them not much of a spoiler as this is in the manual but some people might not want to know race mode taxi mode case mode and freeroaming mode can all be unlocked in the new game, but unlike last time, it isn't based on completing the level you have to collect keyrings in the level.
this is the loaction of one such keyring in the game
i collected on of these on the first level, just PAST THE HOUSE YOU ARE MENAT TO ENTER IN THE FIRST LEVEL, ON THE TOP FLOOR OF THE FLATS
over all so far the game is quite good, though I would cll it the getaway 1.5 rather then 2, feels more like an expention pack but still worth the buy if you liked one

Here's a quote from GAME magazine (the ultimate critics-their reviews are almost always well thought-out) "Chavs and Guns do not a good game make" 3/10 Their judgement is FINAL!

chavs and guns do mixes, in every day life, so why not in a game, plus your not a chav, your a police officer, I don't think people really pay attention to the massive scope of the game, it's london people, not just new york like in spider man, a reprentation of what they guess the city looks like, it is every building were it should be,
every mc donalds very burger king, every place faithfully coded in to the game.
The cars are also the real deal, why the bad press for this game, I know it is hard for the game to be as ground breaking as the first, but no one is reday to wait 5 years while they map out a new city.
the game is done well and well worth the buy just for the freeroaming, black cab, and case mini games,
trust me, this game has been poorly rated for these reasons
1. no new city, same old city as one, howver there nothing you can do, to truley map a city eactly takes to long, and with a city so big theres no need
2. bad story line, yes I admit it, the story is pretty poor, however I don't care, it the game I play for not the story
3 the fact it isn't really a new game, more of an expention pack, this is true, so try not to pick up the game at the £30+ mark try £20, and it a excellant addtion, unless you don't have the first in which case it is well worth the £30+ price tag ;D

Umm...no offense Omnion, but bog off. The game reviewers are only giving their opinion of the game, and maybe some handy hints too, but they do not control your pocket or the games you like. Play it yourself then come back and make a sensible post. (Sorry if I sound harsh but I'm talking sense here. )

Yeah, but he's also got a point. Nearly every review of this game has been very very critical - that many reviewers can't be wrong! I'm with your ethic that people should play before they purchase, but reviews often give a very good guide on what to expect. In this case, I think they're right, too. On a different subject, there's a playable demo of Mercenaries on the cover of this months Official PS2 magazine - it's absolutely awesome! I'm really, really impressed by this game, I think it's going to be very special. On the surface it's a generic third-person action game, but upon playing, you realise that the completely destructable buildings, ability to call on air-strikes and supply deliveries (a la Worms) whenever you want, the gorgeous explosions and physics, plus the ability to take any vehicle you see makes for one very enjoyable, explosive action game. I think it's going to be a real landmark for action games in general, and yes, I'm saying that after only playing the short demo!

Jamie J, that's your opinion. If you don't like it, fine. I'm just saying that there are some people (namely me and Kintobor so far) who do like it.
As for Mercenaries, I knew it would be a great game, but what you have just said it looks to be even better. I don't usually buy OPS2, I'm more of a Playstation MAX person, but you've convinced me. What do you get to do on the demo anyway? Spoil me!

You get one fairly small mission which has you causing all kinds of bother. You get to pilot a chopper (or fight it if you wish), lay waste to all manner of buildings, order airstrikes, fight/drive tanks, use C4, AKs, Rocket Launchers and Anti-aircraft/tank cannons. You get to chase and subdue a key villain, and then have him transported away in a helicopter (which you call for yourself), thus ending the demo. There isn't really any spoilers, just a really excellent showpiece demonstrating what this game can do. It's utterly jaw-dropping, on occasions. The graphics are so lovely you could eat them, and they have a smoke-and-fire, slightly dreamy quality to them, packed with special effects and show-off graphical techniques. The explosions are the biggest and best I've ever seen in a game. It's literally Grand Theft Auto + Red Faction + Metal Gear + Worms + every third-person actioner ever.

Ah, but you see, offense was taken! You can hardly say "bog off" for no real reason and not expect them to be insulted what you SHOULD'VE said was "no offence, but I think you're wrong" or summat. So there! Anyway, back to the getaway...

Anyway, like you said, back to the chavs and guns...

Yes! It may not be any good for those who like to run around shooting like a homicidal maniac without thinking, but I like it. ;D The first game based in London that I actually respect. It's a miracle!

yeah there are many game sbasced in your city, there was a 101 dalmations game, london racer 1 and 2, the first italian job game to name but 4, but none did it as well as the real city of london in the getaway, no that why they should make a getaway racer if you want to milk the cash goat, for a true london diving experince, but focus the game on driving instead of shooting and add some more cars in now that would be a good game (provided it marked at the £19.99 mark)
