I watch this every week, it's brilliant! Well done for spreading the word. Watch the Manhunt one.

One of the few updates on any website on the entire internet that I really look forward to every week. The videogames that the man has made are awesome too.

I was about to post and say that I'd watched one and thought it was overrated... then I decided to watch another and ended up watching all the videos... I was wrong. It's fantastic.

I've disagreed with him only on the Halo review.
Oh, and as for his summary of the Darkness demo- The demo is crap. The game is awesome.

Greatest games reviewer ever. And while The Darkness isn't a blockbuster title like BioShock, Gears of War or Halo 3, I would recommend to anyone to consider getting it if you already own a 360 (or PS3, but you are more likely to own the former ). It has its flaws, but I still found it bloody good fun.

Good to see the Yahtzee love is strong with us all. I watch his reviews every week. Good stuff.

I like the humour and how funny it is to watch but his arguments about Phantom Hourglass did seem more like his own pet peeves with the game which he seemed to assume everyone agreed with. Some I couldn't really see a problem with and while I was playing I felt that Nintendo had generally removed/changed all the things that annoyed me in Wind Waker and added a few things I felt should have been there.
Either way I think I'll go and watch a couple more just to see what his others are like.

He's a miserable [censored] who rips into games because it's much more entertaining than actually praising them. He's even ripped into games he actually likes, such as Psychonauts and Bioshock, and has stated himself that nobody likes it when he praises a game. I find him amusing even when I disagree with him.

I find him amusing even when I disagree with him. Correct. I don't agree with him about points regarding Halo 3, doesn't mean I don't like him or anything. And I'd like to think he's more balanced than most reviewers who concede into hype simply because it'll make them look good (how many reviewers have since turned their back on Mario Sunshine?), whilst Yahtzee is willing to point out flaws in games but still enjoy them (Orange Box and Bioshock, for example).

I've only started watching them in the last week. I just happened upon the You Tube ones and carried on from there. A bit of cynicism and British wit is one of the best combinations for a critic, look at Charlie Brooker.

Brilliant. I was starting to think there was something wrong with me for not seeing Hourglass as "the best DS game ever ever ever" and instead seeing it as lazy, repetitive and bloody infuriating.
Also, OMG Hero Quest. My brother used to have that when I was little and I wanted it bad. Then he traded it for a Game Gear so whatever.

Has he only done a few, or am I just looking at the wrong part of the site? He's only been with the Escapist since August, and he does one review a week, so the number's probably accurate. You can see what else he's done on Fully Ramblomatic though.

Yatzees a geniusnad manages to be an even funnier critic that Angry Video Game Nerd (who I find funny though occasionally when forcing himself to hate something it's not quite so funny) Yatzee manages to make even reviews of games he likes funny ;P. For that reasoning I'll let him rip at even a good game because it's a good chuckle plus no game is perfect.

For that reasoning I'll let him rip at even a good game because it's a good chuckle plus no game is perfect. AVGN has become too aware of his internet fame, and his latest offerrings have had too much "acting" and too little of the actual slagging off of crap games that made him so popular to begin with. His move from Youtube to what-ever-the-other-site-is, has made his reviews longer, and rather than just doing 5-7 minute reviews he's doing 10-12 minute reviews with about 5 minutes of unnescessary crap. Of course AVGN spawned a whole tonne of copycat reviewers, and I wouldn't be surprised if Zero spawns an equal amount of [censored]e to be thrown all over youtube.

The reviews for Medal of Honour and Tomb Raider are officially the greatest damn videos ever made.

Am I the only one who loves the Nerd's newer style of having a bit of crazy acting? I find many of them utterly hilarious. ;D
He has himself stated the AVGN is a character in a character's world, and is nothing like James Rolfe himself. (Indeed watch his other videos, the guy is totally different.) As such, these acting things represent the surreal areas of this character's world. Sure it's a little less obvious than it maybe could be, but it is there.
I will however agree that his purely reviewing ones of old are funnier, but I would never say the new ones are bad or anything.

The final paragraph redeems him slightly. It was an interesting enough read, but it was hardly usual Yahtzee fare.
