Hey Boomers,
The Message Zone is a great place to meet new people and to talk about anything you want. To make sure that the Message Zone stays fun and cool, here is some advice for posting from the humes-who-think-they're-in-charge of this zone...
- If you are going to make a thread, do a search back through the forum to make sure there isn't already a thread for the topic you want to post about. About 5 or 6 pages back should do it. That way the site doesn't get cluttered up with multiple theads about the same topic.
- Check your posts before you send them. If your spelling is accurate and you’ve used capital letters, people are more likely to respond. Try not to use “text speak” (e.g. l33t, m8) or lots of capital letters (e.g. “I AGREE”) because it can be annoying for other people to read.
- Multiple posts can also be annoying for other people to read. If you've posted something, and you then realise you have another point to make or missed something out or whatever, use the Modify Post function. It can be found in the post's top right corner.
- Try to add something new to the discussions when you post instead of just following the crowd. Don’t get upset or angry if people disagree with you, though: after all, everyone is unique!
- If a conversation takes you away from the thread topic, try starting a thread with a different title so people don’t get confused. If you can find an old thread on a topic you want, that’s even better – but make sure you have something fresh and different to add.
- Avoid using the same picture under your name as somebody else. There are hundreds of pictures here or you can use your own: try and be different!
- When you're quoting someone, people, quote the bit that is actually relevant. Don't quote the whole thing if you don't need to!
- Posting in all CAPS or bold or in strange colours, or posting very large images can annoy people.
- If you're going to post an image with swearing, post the link to the image instead.
- If you have a problem with someone or something, send a private message to a Message Zone Hume (the dudes with five blue stars).
But above all, have fun and stay cool!
