Oh please, like anyone's going to actually wear that to ride a motorbike and NOT wander around on rooftops affecting a deep, gravelly voice anyway. Besides, Batman can ride a bike with his mask and cape just fine.

So, who is gonna get it on Friday? Me. Not my most hyped game of the year, but definitely worth a purchase, methinks.

No money means I'll be waiting a month for this.
But, I have so many other games to play catch-up on this month that it's no real worry.

Right, initial review for 360. Be warned, there may be some small spoilers, but I'll try to avoid them where possible. Gameplay feels very much like Resident Evil 4/5, in that Batman takes up the left hand side of the screen, but you can move the camera around you. I think people may have some issues with the camera, since it seems I'm constantly having to move it myself, usually because I'm running on ahead before it can catch up. Also, the closeness of the camera against Batman makes it a little tricky to see hidden areas. Much is played of Batman's detective skills, rather than clear wave after wave of enemies. In fact, there appears to be a lack of bad guys on the island. Perhaps once I'm done on Normal, I'll try on Hard and see. Essentially you wander through areas of Arkham as they open to you, either through an unlocked door, or through a new gadget. Between the buildings are outside areas populated with prisoners, and more often than not, a few puzzles to get you through to the next area. The detective vision seems to be constantly switched on in my playthrough, because there are so many areas of interest that they need exploring, otherwise you'd miss them. There are certain... tasks and collectables set to you early in the game, so using explosives to blow open weak walls, or vents in the ceiling that need investigating as well. Combat is pretty excellent, especially in larger brawls. Whichever way you lean the control stick, Batman will turn to attack. Even if the enemy is a few meters away, he'll flip or jump over to deliver a punch or kick. When a villain goes to attack, an icon appears above the head, and you can easily dodge it with Y. Boss battles, however, are hit and miss so far, mainly consisting of waiting until the enemy charges, throw a batterang, and start punching. This doesn't appear to be the case all the time however, as the battle with Scarecrow is really quite interesting, especially the intro building up to it. Graphically, it's gorgeous. You've all seen the pictures, videos and played the demo. It's fantastic, so long as you can stand everyone looking like they pop pills every twenty minutes. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy belt out some awesome performances as the Joker and BAtman, respectively, and with the villains of the 40 year history of the comics, it sounds and feels very similar to TAS. The Joker particularly jumps from quite funny to really rather scary. There's a small line (and this isn't really a spoiler), which has the Joker on the radio to a henchman who can't find a certain someone. The Joker admits that although he's close to perfect, he's willing to accept some of his mistakes, but not from a grunt. The guy apologizes, and the Joker says, "Oh, well that's fine then. Let's put it behind us. Since you're sorry, I'll only break your wife's legs, rather than killer her. HAHAHAHA!" I'll probably say more about it once people here have played a bit of it.

Picked it up this morning, it is highly pleasing. It's got a wonderfully solid, well-put-together feel to it - you always feel thoroughly in control. As Pete said, the combat is especially well done. A few niggles (it seems very odd to have a superhero game where you can't jump at will, the Resi 4-style camera feels like it's limiting you at first but I'm getting used to it, and what the hell have they got Harley wearing?) but overall high-quality stuff. It should be noted that I'm not even sure I'm out of the tutorial section yet. Also:

This just came through my letterbox today. Won't have many opportunities to play it over the next week, though...
What I've played so far is [censored]ing glorious though. I'm loving every minute.

I think the main reason why the camera is so close is so you can see every detail of the fabulous engine, and it doesn't break the game at all because it zooms out when you're in combat.
I like this game a lot, but the lack of challenge and the abundance of hand-holding is a little annoying. It's a game built entirely around atmosphere, character and presentation, which it does beautifully.

Honestly, however well the game uses it - I'd have preferred they'd come up with something more stylistic for an engine than the Unreal one. The game still looks great, but it doesn't really match up to the stylistic levels one would expect of a truly great comic adaption.
I'd hope that the success of this game will push Rocksteady into another Batman game but allow them to take the risk of pouring the time and money into working on their own engine for it.

Ok, so I had the day off yesterday. Restarted and did the game in one sitting, with 80% of everything.
Very quick summary.
Combat- For a game with a single attack button and a single counter button, the combat in the game is god damned genius and is NEVER, EVER, EVER BORING.
Graphics - ENORMOUS STIFFY GAME LOOKS AWESOME
Complains - Poison Ivy is crap. Fight with her is crap. Some tedious fights. Very anti climactic boss fight
Grade -9/10

Yup, loving every minute of this game so far.
My personal highlight has to be the encounters with Scarecrow. Two words; Eternal Darkness.

I know, I was just about to press the tray open button when it "restarted".
Scarecrow is the second best thing about this game.

My personal highlight has to be the encounters with Scarecrow. Two words; Eternal Darkness. Exactly what I thought. Alex: in regards to style, I do love the fact that the screen goes all "sketchy" and black-and-white when you pause the game.

Just seen the trailer for this. I might ask my mum if I can get it on her card. It's 40 quid on Play.com and you get the armoured batsuit code. It looks jaw-droppingly awesome and reading all the positive comments you guys have made, it looks like another 5/5 game for my 360 list.
