Thor seems an obvious one.
What of the Greek pantheon? Any of those make it in? I can imagine the likes of Zeus, Hades, Hephaestus and Hermes to be pretty handy.

I've tried a couple, no joy.
Although several different gods of death/the underworld (Hades, Osiris, Thanatos and another one I tried that I can't remember) summon the Grim Reaper.

Would I be the first to suggest that a spoof Scribblenauts movie trailer in the style of Death Note would be so awesome? Just picture the scene:
"The item or creature that is written in the notebook shall come to life."
Maxwell: With this notebook, I could create the ideal world! I shall become a GOD.
Necessary Sidekick: So let me get this straight... you can write anything into this notebook... and it will appear? Maxwell: Anything. As long as it's not alcohol, tobacco, inappropriate, vulgar, copyrighted, of a particular race or nationality, a particular person.....
News: A wave of seemingly identical terrorists and criminals are running riot all over the city. No one knows who they are or where they have come from- Sidekick: What's going on? Maxwell: *Looks up dramatically* .....there's another notebook.
(Chaos ensues) Maxwell: It's NO USE! Sidekick: ....try writing "God". (Maxwell, slowly and tensely, writes God, who then arrives into existence, in a blaze of light and orchestral crescendos, towering over a cowering Maxwell and his sidekick, who look up in awe and amazement.) Sidekick: Cool. Hehe, now try writing "atheist", see what happens!
*BOOM* SCRIBBLENAUTS. Write anything..... solve EVERYTHING.

I played this yesterday and couldn't work out what the big deal was, really. This whole phenomenon has gone completely over my head. Either DS owners are really, really easily pleased, or there's something wonderful here that I'm just not seeing.
*shrugs and goes back to Dissidia*

Well I think it's awesome so far. Got it on release day through the post (thank you Gameplay.co.uk) ; I'm only on level 1-11 but it's been a pleasant experience on the DS. For me, at least.

So yeah, I've changed the thread title to recognise Super Scribblenauts' vast superiority to the first one. It's a sequel done just right - the good bits are improved upon, the bad bits are given the boot, there's a few great new things you never knew you needed, the basic layout is much improved. There are a couple of new problems (mainly some levels have some very obtuse answers, but the new Layton-style hint system largely sorts that out), but not enough to prevent enjoyment.
Also, you can now summon Odin. And Thor. Yep.

You can also summon Philosoraptor. Super Scribblenauts is what the first one should have been.

I might get rid of my copy of Scribblenauts and trade it in for Super Scribblenauts actually. I've hit a rock at level 4-1 and I haven't picked up where I left off since.

Would be a good decision.

Indeed. I flogged mine off a couple of months ago. It is one of those sequels that effectively renders the original obsolete.
'Course, at this point you likely wouldn't get much cashmoney for it what with sequel-existence and all, but them's the breaks.

Double-post 'cos I found a secret minigame. Type in "arcade machine" or "coin op" or whatever and then get Maxwell to use the resulting cabinet and you'll get a little shooter thing. EDIT: Also, I love that there are more historical characters now. Last night Shakespeare, Beethoven, Mozart, Cleopatra and Da Vinci had a cocktail party.

Traded in two games and got Super Scribblenauts for 7 quid earlier. GAME were doing it for 18 quid and I got 11 quid trade-in, so I gave way and got me a copy. Scribblenauts was cool, but I think it could have done with more improvement, if that happened a sequel might not have been released.
