I wish I could go to Summer Of Sonic this year, never been to one. If I can get off my feeding tube thing, yeah I have an eating disorder I could try and see if I can go. At the moment, I need to think about it, it's gonna be tough.

They do... sort of...
Summer of Sonic. Not officially run by Sega but AFAIK it's endorsed by them.
I also moved the post here seeing as that's what you're getting at.

Modochi, you DO know Sonic Boom was made as a response exactly to Summer of Sonic, right? The organization is fan-made, but SEGA considers it the official UK con.

For once I have the green to go wherever I want too, but now I lack the time to even take a trip downtown for some R&R.
So no, I'm not going.

Why do I get the feeling that the date for getting tickets for this is going to be on another day when I'm not going to be here to get one? That's what stopped me from going last year.

Is there a date set yet?

Not as far as I know, and knowing my luck it'll be some point within the next week which is when I'm away and can't get on the 'net to claim a ticket.

Is this the kind of thing that gets announced within a month of it happening? Or will we have plenty notice? I don't even know what month it usually occurs.

Normally we get plenty notice, but this year seems SEGA has taken a more active role and want to do something a bit major, since both SoS and Sonic Boom's announcements are being delayed.

When does it normally happen? What month, I mean.

Last year, it was July.
But hold your questions, because recent developments hint at the Summer of Sonic PR stuff going live very soon, to the point that it could potentially be today.

Or tomorrow. That works too.
Both Summer of Sonic and Sonic Boom have been annouced. The former is Metal Sonic & Badniks themed, and takes place on August 3rd at Westminster Central Hall, London. Sonic Boom takes place on August 10th at The Pageant, St Louis MO, with doors opening at 5pm.

Yes! Well, I hope to be able to grab a ticket because I want to go and see the Boomers I met in 2007 again, and say hi to all those I haven't met yet! Also if there's some kind of STCO presence I'd love to drop by have a nose around! :3

Modochi, you DO know Sonic Boom was made as a response exactly to Summer of Sonic, right? The organization is fan-made, but SEGA considers it the official UK con. Actually I don't know that, I figured Sonic Boom and Summer of Sonic was the same thing. I'm a pretty lousy Sonic fan for not knowing that, but all my Sonic knowledge tend to come from American websites and they never mentioned summer of Sonic to my knowledge, so yeah. August 10th, well, I have the day off, but I still can't make it due to sucky Friday syndrome, for some idiot reason we always work 18 hours a day each Friday and I'm not going to add airport mayhem to that kind of day.

I definitely want to but they left the announcement very late and haven't even released details about tickets or if you can just turn up... so yeah.... I'm officially a maybe.

I want to, but I'm getting more and more annoyed with them. They've told us absolutely nothing about how tickets are being distributed and they've probably left the announcement far too late for me to plan anything effectively.
So far, I'm a maybe.

450 for each wave doesn't sound like that many at all, considering there's only two waves - or are they holding some back "due to unexpected demand" do you suppose?

Yeah the venue holds 2000 people.
That's confusing. Unless it will be possible to turn up and queue....
Anyways I hope to grab a ticket!
