Ok. So what is the best Sonic game to play multiplayer on?
Myself, I still give Sonic 2 a quick go with a mate now and again. Hate the whole smooth graphics thing on xbox live though. I heard so many complaints about this game's two player vs, that the screens squashed and all, but it's still pretty good. Better than Sonic 3's race mode....although Sonic 3 did have new levels and beter music in the competition mode.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is good for multiplayer. City escape is classic for a two player blast. Hate the Bridge level though. And the crazy Level 4 stages, you know, the two levels set in space (whats the names again?) require so much patience that it's not really a race anymore, just a survival test. Strangely enough, when we completed the level in two-player mode, I recieved an embelm. Not complaining......
Ah what else is there? Sonic Heroes...not much to say. Shadow the hedgehogs two playe mode is terrible. Sonic 360/PS3's multiplayer is ok. Sonic Spinball can't really be played as multiplayer. Never played the Sonic Shuffle game.
Oh yeah, Advance 3's multiplayer is awesome. Complete the entire game properly on multiplayer? Love it. Things mess up sometimes though (try that Ice boss on two player)
So for me....toss up 'tween SA2B, Sonic 2 and SAdvance 3.
Maybe Sonic Battle's is good? How about Rivals? And does Secret Rings even have a multiplayer?
One last thing.....Riders two player is good as well. Just thought I'd mention it. Prefer it if you could do multiplayer story mode though.

I know that Secret Rings has a Sonic Shuffle style multiplayer which is either Good, Bad or better than Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Sonic 2.
3 is alright. SA2 was brilliant at the racing ([censored] off, treasure hunting), Heroes sucked, Shadow was meh, and Secret Rings CAN be good.

Sonic 2 was never that great. 2P kept being left behind, so only 1P was really playing for most of the game.

They mean the actual multiplayer option Pom.
I would probably hazard a guess at Sonic Riders actually. When you get a few people who know how to play it properly, it becomes brilliant. (The problem is finding those 3 others.)

Oh right. No, I dislike that mode also since people use it to exploit my lack of knowledge about the later levels in the game for an easy win.

Riders will be fun, if people know how to play. First timers will hate it with a passion.
If we're counting it: Mario and Sonic. Sure, it's a bunch of mini games thrown into an overall package, but the game is very fun when played with friends. I'm not sure what it would be like playing with people who are actually good at the game, but it's very fun with first timers.
Sonic and The Secret Rings also has a decent multiplayer..

I've only played the multiplayer once in Sonic Riders and remember finding it really difficult to see what I was doing. My tv's not huge but it's not that small either. My friend had also never played it before so it wasn't very challenging.
The multiplayer for Mario and Sonic Olympics was fun when we played it at Retro's the other week.

Shuffle.
But you can't play it seriously. It has to be played with with another three people who can appreciate it's crapness. Then laugh yourself silly for two to three hours at how terrible the game is put together. Scream in terror at every ACCIDENT. Shriek with joy at every MYSTERY EVENT. It's one of the only games I actually enjoy for how terrible it is.
Other than that, multiplayer in Sonic has never worked for me. But I've never played Riders, Secret Rings or Olympic Games.

I think Sonic 2 is the only one whose 2 player mode was any good. (even if you could hardly see it) Sonic 3's was sorta pointless.
And I guess Chaotix, if it counts.

Yay, I'm not alone! It's frustrating as heck, and I especially don't recommend you play it with a computer character (even one is too many), but the multilayer can be addictive when you're playing it with your friends. I call Super Sonic! Other than that, I'd have to say SA2 Battle. I liked the racing, but I REALLY liked hunting emeralds. It wasn't fun in regular gameplay, but beating the heck out of my friends to get to those shards is one of my most pleasant Sonic memories.

I used to play Sonic 2 on multiplayer with my sister when we were kids. She developed a snide tactic where shed let me speed ahead and then smash open a teleport power up and therefore squander my well deserved lead! She'd also monopolise the 2 player Special Stage! We'd often end up fighting!! Loadsa fun, though. Sonic 3's two-player was a bit lame. SA2 was allright but meh...

NO. NO. NO. You DO know what happens when you complete that game 100%, right? (My soul is pure, which is why I'm sitting here, typing this.)

Sonic Rush Adventure is alright but the option to both be the same character would have been appreciated.
(I always go for Blaze anyway, because I'm that hardcore.)

(I always go for Blaze anyway, because I'm that hardcore.) Blaze is the better character for a straight race anyway though. She can jump higher with a press of R, breathes better underwater, and can do more tricks while jumping to fill up the Rush meter than Sonic can.

Yeah but Sonic's much faster, has #1 leaderboard time on most acts and the only people who will be playing nowadays are the pros. Not me then.

Sonic 2 and 3 multiplayers were alright. Not technically multiplayer I guess but playing the game with two people as Sonic and Tails on Sonic 3 & Knuckles was absoloutly ace, Tails carrying Sonic is endless fun!
Haven't liked any of the other multiplayers until the Secret Rings. They're just silly little party games but they're actually pretty good fun thinks I. Also they really utilise the wii remote, the violin being my favourite.

I thought the concept of Sonic Heroes' multiplayer mode was great, just very badly executed like much of the other aspects of the game.
I'd say the Advance series had the best multiplaying features myself.

Hmm, it seems the old threads are the best, but since I didn't post in it last time...
Sonic 2. Even though it's frustratingly hard playing against a novice, even slowing down so they'll have a fighting chance. You'd think everyone around my age would have played Sonic 2 religiously... Secret Rings' was good but then suddenly got not good and I got stroppy. Riders would be good if anybody could play it.
