I am looking forward to it. it will be more camp than other series according to reliable sources as erm the star.
however the cgi and cast all look good, plus the reason billie piper is in it is from her good role in the canterbury tales adaptation. I think she will be good in it. WHO else would of been good in the role.
:: gets shot for the pun ::
ps I saw tom baker in theatre last year in some gemini play. he was quite good in the role and the play was decent too.

Are you sure they didn't all ware a scarf? William Hartnell - A Victorianish suity thing. Patrick Troughton - Something not too different, but less formal. Jon Pertwee - Velvet Cape! Tom Baker - Bergundy coat and massive scarf. Peter Davison - Cricketer's style wear. Colin Baker - Patchwork-style coat. Sylvester McCoy - Hat, umbrella, question-mark pullover. Paul McGann - Modified version of Hartnell's. Christopher Eccleston - Leather jacket.

I can't believe the Mail/Express printed this (must be getting desperate these days) but apparently there is a woman who is terrified of daleks, she apparently goes into a blind panic when she sees one, or even hears something related to it. And there is a chain up dalek in the Dr Who trailer

According to the Radio Times, we'll actually be feeling sorry for the Daleks!
"Ever seen a grown man crying over a Dalek? You will now!"
Sounds...cool! Oh, and the Daleks say "El-e-vate!" when they fly! It's like Trumpton!

chained up?
saw eccleston on jonathon ross last night. the trailer looked really impressive, but some of the cgi looks a bit poor. the scene in the church yard with the monster eating the vicar and the groom will send the kids behind the sofa (heres hoping)!

You know what I think the first episode "Rose" just pulled it off which I'm delighted to see. Billie Piper was alot better than I predicted too and Christopher Eccleston captured that wit and charm that the previosu Doctor's have had (BTW it's about time we had a northern actor playing the Doctor). Anyway dissapointments about it was that we didn't get to see Paul McGann (The 8th Doctor) die and transform into his new-self. Other than that I only wanted to see Mickey (Rose's boyfriend) get slaughtered by that dustbin. And can easily say that the Doctor is definatly back after his little hiatus and I am much anticipating episode six of this series entitled "Dalek". Get ready to hide behind your sofas.

It was fun, but really should've been better. I'm not a fan of having it as 40-minute long single episodes, as Who works better as a serial and stories should be longer than 40 minutes. Have two episodes of that length for each story, that's better- more time to develop the story and characters, and things aren't as rushed as in Rose. We could see more of her dull life and see more why she's willing to drop it, we could get more of the Nestene's, we could get to see the Doctor when he's not with Rose, we could see more of Clive & his data on the Doctor (considering how often he's been on Earth, there should've been more examples of his being on Earth and esp. some subtle refs to previous Who disasters like the mysterious miner deaths at Llanfairfach). Also... the death toll is oddly low. What was the point of having Mickey live after the Autons got him, when he didn't do anything when he was found alive? All we get out of it is him being shell-shocked and Rose leaving him because of that- which doesn't exactly endear me to Rose. Clive... we don't even see him getting shot, we just cut away from the Auton fire. The Auton rampage is nice and chaotic and looks impressive when watched the first time, but now I'm thinking "hang on, they hardly killed anyone!". Compare that to Spearhead From Space, where we actually get to see people being gunned down instead of Autons firing at nothing will people run about. An SFX action sequence done today should not come off as a poorer, wimpier copy of something done in 1970. Also, Rose is fun but comes off as a watered down Ace. And I like Ace & have DVDs with her on, so why settle for second-best? On the plus side, Eccleston is flipping brilliant as the Doctor. Still more interested in Big Finish's Who audio dramas though.

It was pretty dumb how bille piper didn't realise that that plastic bloke wasn't her boyfriend. Man he had no expression in his face.

Autons? Those are plastic shop dummies come to life. Were they originally in the john pertwee ones? Yep, they were the first Pertwee-era villains and everything. And racked up one high death toll!

Having seen it, I must admit I am impressed with the beginning to new series.
And I commend Eccleston's ability to capture the Doctors eccentricity, however the only thing I have an issue with is the guy who kept a record of all of the Doctor's appearances through time. If a regeneration heralds a new appearence how do they have pictures from the 60's with the same guy?

I really enjoyed it, But one thing really kept on bugging me... Billy Piper... Can the girl do more than one emotion? can the girl act? she gets nearly choacked to death by a dummy's hand and then is thrown accross the room onto a table and then sees a weird ray gun thingy and chases after some strange guy down the stairs (the dr) and she is as calm as my gran is on the way to the post office... I do hope she gets better with experience. otherwise I loved it!
does anyone else have the theme tune in their brains right now?
As for RSM's picture problem, the tardis is a time machine, so that dr (the 2005 one) could go back in time and have his picture taken and the guy could have it. theoretically it would be possible for the dr to go back in time and see another dr also.

Heh, another thing I liked, they kept the original theme with minimal messing about, none of this hyper techno dance remix junk.

Woo! I enjoyed it muchly - watched it twice (I know I know, I'm a nerd) I thoughroughly enjoyed it, I've never really watched the show before outside of the odd clips, so I'm not weighed down by preconceptions It'll be interesting to see how episode two pans out, what with the fact that its not a contemporary setting this time round - zoe wanamaker as a sheet of cg skin? hmm, interesting to see how it pans out Chris is great!

According to the Radio Times, we'll actually be feeling sorry for the Daleks! "Ever seen a grown man crying over a Dalek? You will now!"Sorry to cut in, but I'm assuming what they mean by that quote is that the Daleks are now scarier and will make even a grown man cry. I loved the new episode/series, all of it. Christopher Eccleston acted amazingly and twas a great intro to me to the Doctor Who? series.

yeah the daleks were once described as the most terrifiying sci fi things around... But since then we've had these...
Star treck: The Borg. Stargate: The replicators Stargate atlantis: The wraith. the Eurovision song contest trail: Jordan.
