christopher eccleston will not return due to fears of being type cast Ugh, I hate it when actors use that excuse. I think Sarah Michelle Gellar gave a similar excuse in an interview a while back. HERE'S A NEWSFLASH FOR YA, IT'S TOO BLEEDIN' LATE TO AVOID BEING TYPECAST! Most actors yearn to be given such an iconic role and then when they do, they get afraid that they'll never be known for anything else for their whole lives.

HERE'S A NEWSFLASH FOR YA, IT'S TOO BLEEDIN' LATE TO AVOID BEING TYPECAST! That surprises me since Gellar was Buffy for the better part of a decade. Anyway, it seems like Doctor Who can pretty easily adapt between Doctors. Might even give it a shot in the arm to prevent a second series slump.

It's one of the few things to actually succeed in switching it's star's actor but keeping the same character (more or less). The only other big one I can think of is James Bond - but they just randomly change, there's no real ceremony in it. They change and you just accept it.
It makes me wonder what the formula is that allows that to succeed. Maybe if I find it I can bottle it and sell it for much-loads. ^^

its just that the timing was pretty poor. I mean only after one episode being shown is unfair. nevermind, lets hope the next one will be just as good.

Proffessor Lupin from Harry Potter 3 is up for the doctor role! He'd be a great Doctor!

I'd like to see what David Threlfall could do with the role.

I think Eddie Izzard would be a wonderful choice simply becuase it's very unexpected. Either than or Rowan Akinson ;D. Apparently Ian Mckelin has expressed interest too.
Oh yeah and technically Richard E. Grant has already played a doctor. In the Eighth Doctor's animation appearance that appeared on BBCi and BBC Online, Richard E. Grant did the voice for the doctor.

That was the then ninth Doctor. Now erased from continuity.
Rowan Atkinson already played the Doctor in a Comic Relief special a few years ago.
Ian McKellen would be a fantastic choice; a new Pertwee to follow the Hartnell and Troughton of the last two. But I find it doubtful that he'd want to do it (plus he's far too well-known for the part; it's a role where the character needs to be bigger than the actor playing it).
Bill Nighy I think is more likely. He was slightly famous for a little while there, but his star has decidedly fallen now so he could get away with it.

I'd like to see David Jason as the Doctor. Let's see an old guy take a whack at it again. (And that guy's a great actor with a serious range, he would excell at the role)

I liked episode 2 but I don't think it was as good as episode 1.
The story was abit dull. The fact that the face of cassandra wanted them all to die was abit stupid. Yeah maybe someone else.

Episode two was awesome, miles better then the first. Really enjoying this series now! ;D Everything about this episode was more interesting and exciting. Great drama, action and dialogue throughout. Shame the tree lady had to burn, though.

Yeah that is a bit of a shame. The tree lady had some good powers. Like routes coming out her finger and stuff
