I really enjoyed it. Billie Piper can act! I thought the effects were a bit ropey but apart from that it was pretty decent. I'll be watching the next one, to say the least.

Sorry to cut in, but I'm assuming what they mean by that quote is that the Daleks are now scarier and will make even a grown man cry. Allegedly, Big Finish got there first with Jubilee and the Dalek Empire sagas. And they still are in many cases. The Borg at least look humanoid- the Daleks don't even have that. Not to mention they pre-empted the Borg with their Robomen slaves, which was a really nasty thing to do: turning people's friends and family into mindless cyborg slaves. And the Daleks knew what effect that would have and didn't care. Spooky.

i really enjoyed the first episode. the reason I think the death toll was low was due to the 7pm scheduling and in a more pc society you cant scare the kiddies. Eccelston really played the doctor with good charm and wit. Billie Piper was also impressive. Looking forward to next weeks episode. the monstors look fantastic and the cgi looks impressive.

I just put it in for briefness. They do actually say that we'll be feeling sorry for the Daleks. Sorry, should have made that clearer. Oh, and my verdict on the series? AWESOME. Surpasses all the other series (which weren't that good anyway), and Christopher Ecleston is hands-down brilliant. It was a bit mean when Clive gets killed in such a violent way, but nonetheless I enjoyed it immensely. Seriously, Christopher is the best doctor EVER. If a regeneration heralds a new appearence how do they have pictures from the 60's with the same guy? Isn't it kind of obvious? The Doctor's a time traveller, you could hardly expect Tom Baker to just cover the 70s or John Pertwee to stay in the 60s. The photos and records were all of the current-generation Doctor, who's presumably been all over time by the time the first episode of the new series starts

Seriously, Christopher is the best doctor EVER. yeah I thought it was a bit sad that clive got shot. but I think that was because he thought the doctor brings death and is a foe rather than saving the world naively speaking, we dont know if he is dead - rather that he got shot in the arm or summit. I hope not as I thought he was a good character. still the show was quality! roll on saturday 7pm bbc 1!

All the morons on Deviantart are picking it apart. My opinion? Better than I could have hoped for! Even better than Battlefield with Sylvester McCoy. ;D

naively speaking, we dont know if he is dead - rather that he got shot in the arm or summit. Well, judging by the way his family were screaming... ...well, let's just say the police will have trouble identifying his face...

I really enjoyed it, But one thing really kept on bugging me... Billy Piper... Can the girl do more than one emotion? I hate to say it, but she was far better than expected. Yes! A lot of people have a problem with it. I dunno why, it IS the original with added stuff. The Doctor has met more than one incarnation of himself! In the aptly named Five Doctors story, the first five Doctors were taken out of their timelines and placed in the Death Zone of Gallifrey (Except for the Fourth Doctor who got "trapped in time" - Tom Baker didn't wanna do the episode ) and then again later on, the Second and Sixth Doctors met up.

yeah the daleks were once described as the most terrifiying sci fi things around... But since then we've had these... But have any of them caused this? I've removed the names cos I really don't need a lawsuit.

New to Who, except for some very vague memories, so I was able to enjoy it without preconceptions. I thought the idea of a living plastic was pretty cool, and a lot of the humour played out pretty well. The inside of the tardis was great, and scenes with the London Eye and the mall attack worked wonderfully. Still, there's something that's missing. The nice special effects, futuristic anti-plastic toys, and snazzy scenes of destruction really showed up the bland direction and wooden acting: it felt like a £10 watch in a £1000 watch case. Hopefully, though, future episodes will show more charisma from the leads and atmosphere in the storytelling. The teaser for next week was very exciting indeed. I wonder what Dead Ringers will make of it.

The only real problem I had with the acting (save for BP's odd slip up here and there) was the fact that the black guy played an Auton better than he played a real person.

true
i thought the positives outweighed the negatives and the 10.5 million viewers cant be wrong compared with 8.5 million saturday night takeaway in a difficult slot.
The warm reception has also been good to see.

Was anyone else dissapointed that we didn't get to see the 8th Doctor turn into the 9th? No, not really. I think The Doctor's sudden appearance was WAY more effective. Oh, and according to (guess what) the Radio Times, the currrent Doctor has been living a few reincarnations as a cat?!

Loved it to bits. Tons better than I was expecting.
"There's a strange man in my room." "Yes, there is."
;D
Also, the bit with the wheelie bin was genius.

Please say you mean the series and not the Peter Cushing movie. The series. It has that cool location shooting, the body-dumping poster and THE SLYTHER.

The word 'Dalek' reminds me of 'garlic'. Agree/disagree? I used to believe it WAS "garlic", in times before I'd seen the show, or perhaps even knew what it was.
