Fun thing about the Master- he also got played by Mark Gatiss (who's also done Judge Death) in one of Big Finish's "Doctor Who Unbound" audio dramas- specifically, the one where the plot was where the Doctor, during his exile to Earth, had landed in Hong Kong the day before the Handover by accident and never was UNIT's Scientific Advisor. So the Earth is a mess. He gets a great scene where he has a go at the Doctor for never seeing the big picture & thinking of posterity:
"You've let entire cultures - entire races - die!"
"Now that's unfair!"
"Try telling that to the lizards, and the dinosaurs. Where were you during the Plastic Purges? Your diplomacy would've come in real handy on Probe Seven..."
"I don't know what you mean."
"Of course you don't! That's why there's a line of mile-wide craters across America! I had to live through it all! The chaos! The panic! The shortages!"
"I haven't been here since the 1960s!"
"It shows. I didn't see you at My Lai, Doctor- I didn't see you in East Timor- No interfering in Rwanda, I see- "
"Now hang on-"
"Just going to pop back and fix Cambodia, are we?"

And Giles is in Season 2! He's the Master! ;D ;D ;D I didn't know about these nifty spoiler tags. How can that be? HOW!? I've just watched the Dr. Who movie, for crying out loud! The brief Cyberman clip at the end was kinda scary, seeing its hand clench... hehehehehe...

David Tennant + sword = RAWR. Is Billie Piper going to be in the next series, or is she actually leaving?

Last I heard, she's meant to be in all the episodes Mind you, they wern't specific to mention wether she'd be in the episodes as the doctor's main assistant in all of them - guess we'll have to see

Rose had better not last too long. All the Doctor's companions go home, get ditched or die at some point. Hmm, who do you think would make a good sidekick for the Doctor in future seasons?

Rose had better not last too long. I disagree. Following the regeneration, and with them taking the series in another direction, I think they need a link between the Chris and Dave eras, otherwise they might as well be two different shows. Rose is that link. Also, Anthony Head does look ace in that trailer. Sharp suit, slicked back hair, and we know from Big Finish that he can be a right bar steward. ;D Could be the best Master yet. ;D

What's the actual evidence that ASH is playing the Master?. I'd read he was playing a shapeshifting character called the Headmaster. Not that he couldn't be the Master -- it would make a lot of sense -- I'm just reminded very strongly of how people proclaimed the voice at the end of "Bad Wolf" was "obviously" Davros...

Yes, but as The Master vanished into a plothole - the Eye of Harmony is the central power core of the Gallifreyan civilisation, you silly Americans, not a component of the TARDIS! - he could quite as easily climb out of one. Energy fluctuations in "the heart of the TARDIS" reconstituting him, perhaps? On that theme, the TARDIS is supposed to contain an entire pocket dimension behind its doors - yet we haven't seen anything of its Mk. III interior beyond the control room. Whether we have confused the Headmaster for He Whose Name Must Not Be Spake For The Sake of Spoilers or not, I would like to see an adventure which transpires wholly within the TARDIS so we have an opportunity to see what else lies within its titanic holds. There hasn't been an adventure like that since the Hartnell era back in the early 1960s, and having the ghost of The Unnameable One flitting through the vehicle's systems and wreaking all kinds of havoc and hooliganism as revenge from beyond the grave would be the perfect excuse for it!

Instead of a load of technobabble just use the "Nack in STC #142" route: "you thought I was dead, but I found a way to come back and now... etc." Clean, simple, a gift to fanfic writers.

Ooh, now what's the name of that graphic novel that came out a while ago which involved an alternate reality where Britain landed on the moon first? That'd probably be right up your street! Ministry of Space by Warren Ellis and Chris Weston its very good. You get to see just how much Britain benefits if we had won the Space race before it even began. In the final panel you also see how much we lost As for the episode I'm not a great fan of the Doctor with sword, the satsuma was a much more suitable weapon. Also fine moments - Tea based regeneration, Torchwood references, Arthur Dent based wardrobe, Six words... I kept expecting the Major bloke who knew about Torchwood to be promoted to Brigadier, sadly no longer to be.

Yeah, speaking of which, I have just read a tidbit of info on that episode, and I'm starting to wonder if Mr. Head IS actually playing the character in question.

Mickey would be good for a few stories. I'd also like to see an alien companion- a Silurian, a Raxacoricofallapatorian, something new, but either way a non-human one. I'm just reminded very strongly of how people proclaimed the voice at the end of "Bad Wolf" was "obviously" Davros... Well, since Big Finish's audio drama Terror Firma had Davros suffering from a split personality between him & the Dalek Emperor, with the Emperor taking dominance by the end and with Davros becoming ever more Dalek in each appearence, they weren't wrong... (Unless you discount the audios as canon, in which case they were, but where's the fun in that?)

It's about time we saw more of the TARDIS' inside. That's one thing I don't like about the new series. Until the Xmas special, the TARDIS actually seemed smaller than it used to in the old series.

Little late to the party, but I loved the episode, although there was a bit too much "oh the Doctor's not here to help wah wah wah". Still, can't have everything. Defeating the villain with the Power of Satsuma was brilliant, and I hope we'll see more of Harriet Jones, she gets more interesting every time.

I think I'm going to like it. Oh you WILL. Because none of the companions have histories of doing THAT to begin with... This is the final, clinching evidence for the Doctor being completely asexual- the companions get so desperate they latch on to the first receptive male they come across. (Except Susan, who he deliberately locked out of the Tardis so she could go off with a bloke she just met. Maybe he was fed up of her continuously twisting her ankles)

I watched the repeat on BBC3 t'other night, and did anyone do that interactive story "Attack of the Graske" after the episode? It was really fun! The Doctor praised my alien-finding skills ^_^

bit of bumpage - Doctor Qui offshoot "Torchwood" has announced the female lead in the show - Eve Myles, who played Gwyneth in the victorian cardiff based episode "The Unquiet Dead" Interestingly, her character name for Torchwood is Gwen - which is either a sign that ol' Russell T is really unoriginal when choosing welsh names, or that she might very well have character links with Unquiet Dead's Gwyneth - most likely a direct decendant. More information to be found this ways --> www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/tw.shtml

Jawsome, I really liked Gwyneth. I'd say the chances of Gwen being a direct descendant are high to definite.
