IIRC, Russell just meant Army of Ghosts ends on a cliffhanger - and making people wait six months to find out what happens next? Not a good idea. Too many may forget to tune in or not care anymore when it starts.
I'd have dumped one of the less interesting S2 eps and just done this as a three-parter - Army Of Ghosts goes first with no hint in its trailer of the Cybermen or that it's a three-parter, making it look like Torchwood is the focus, and then reveal the Cybermen in the ep and have the cliffhanger be that the Cybes have just conquered Earth; the next episode hypes up the Cybermen invasion, only to reveal it's the Daleks in the sphere before the opening credits start; and then we go on from there for two eps and have stuff explode.

I don't think there's much to do with the Cybermen now, just have them shooting people and daleks. The next episode will be mostly about the Daleks and this "genesis device". I'm very interested in seeing where these Daleks come from.
There was a theory going around that the Daleks MUST be in Series 2, because at the BAFTAs they had a black dalek and there were no Black Daleks in Series 1 - so why build a new one?
It's nice to see a black one alright.

Just watched tonight's episode. Very good, although I wish there was a bigger payoff with Torchwood finally meeting The Doctor. There were some very funny bits, like when the guy from Most Haunted complained he was out of a job. And the ending, even though I knew The Daleks were inside that sphere, it was still a jaw dropping moment. I can't wait for the season finale next week.

Well, they're going to be there, obviously. But most of their limelight was in this episode. I mean, they've already pretty much had their victory, as the Doctor said.

Just watched the Trailer again for next weeks ep the last bit sounds exciting
"Cybermen trust Daleks together we could upgrade the universe" and "Keep this up and most worlds will fall into the Void"
Also who do the Daleks kill??
"You didn't need to Kill him" "Neither did we need him alive"
Also whats this Genesis Ark? if you look real closely when the Daleks say Genesis Ark is primed...theres Smoke coming out of the bottom

I think it's the alt-universe Pete Tyler that The Daleks kill. In the next episode trailer he was acting quite hostile and was saying how everybody should listen to him. Maybe he somehow brought The Dalek's Void Ship into Torchwood.

Ugh, I hate that. OH BOY THIS REALITY EFFECTS AAAALL REALITIES!!!
The main problem with that is that there is going to be a big showdown with some kind of dangerous transdimension equipment between two other realities, somewhere else. Considerring the unvierse is so big and there are millions of variations of it, it would have already happened.
Same reason the Spider-man cartoon's last series was so ridiculous.

Just watched the Trailer again for next weeks ep the last bit sounds exciting "Cybermen trust Daleks together we could upgrade the universe" The Daleks will never go for it though, unless they just plan to use the Cybermen and then kill 'em later. They got no interest in upgrading races. Ugh, I hate that. OH BOY THIS REALITY EFFECTS AAAALL REALITIES!!! It's probably more "you're punching big sodding holes in the walls between two realities and messing about with the Void, you plonkers!".

The Daleks will never go for it though, unless they just plan to use the Cybermen and then kill 'em later. They got no interest in upgrading races. That makes sense. The Daleks are the Nazis (no, this is not me invoking Godwin's, that is what they were based on) of the Whoniverse. If it's not a Dalek, they hate it and want it dead. I'm aware they had slaves in the past, like the Ogrons, but I seriously doubt the Cybermen are not going to get stabbed in the back by the Daleks if they team up.

The Cyberman who proposes the alliance will no doubt get exterminated, and so the Cyber-race as a whole declares war on the Daleks. The reason I think this, is because on Confidential, it showed the Doctor and a Cyberman fighting side-by-side, firing at something off-camera (they were also acting infront of a green screen. So something tells me that indicates lots a' death).
Either that, or the Cybermen will simply serve as glorified cannon fodder for the Daleks, which would be a collosal waste.

The Daleks would pwn the Cybermen in any fight. And although it's unlikely to last long, the thought of an alliance between the two is absolutly terrifying. No one would stand a chance.
Upgraded or exterminated? CHOOSE YOUR FATE NOW!!!!!

I'd rather be exterminated. It's quick and painless, unlike having my brain extracted and put into a robot.

I'd hardly call it painless considering all those screams and stuff.

There's no fun in being exterminated by a Dalek. It's not as if you can boast about it to your friends afterwards.
Unfortunately, being made a Cyberman (or Cybusman, depending on your reality) wouldn't be that fun, either. As you'd not only be constantly busy, but constantly on the brink of extinction too...

Even though your all taking about yesterdays episode I'm just gonna cut in with something Who related that may be interesting to people and/or cause riots.
K9s getting his own TV series and it's gonna be on Jetix. Supposedly a mix of live action and CG. It sez so in Jetix Magazine (I can provide a scan if people want clarifacation)

Damn it, that Robo-Dog doesn't know when to quit. Just when you think the BBC have vanquished him forever, he returns full-force. ¬_¬

Didn't his first TV series flop? Why are they giving him another one?

"K-9 and Company" (as my friend informs me) didn't flop; it never got off the ground. It had a pilot episode to test the water, and they decided not to go ahead with it, which is fortunate for us as it had one of the worst theme tunes ever.

Well K9's possibly getting his own series because it's not on the BBC in the first place. I'ld wager that it's a spin off being developed outside the BBC for Jetix with a license to the character. So how well this series does might not matter to the BBC anyways.

Same with the show in a way, could be horrible or could be fun, have to wait and see. Thought they would have put it onto CBBC though, most strange.

I know I'm late but that episode last night was the ultimate. I guessed most of the plot from the trailer last week (ghosts=cybermen, crossing over from dimensions, somehow) but hadn't expected either Mickey or the Daleks. can't wait for next weeks!
As I guess im thinking (more hoping) that the Genesis device is something to revive the Dalek race. That way they turn up more often than the one off attacks/invasions but now more of a *Dr visits world... OMG Daleks have invaded!* Which I prefer to the plotlines from last series... *Dr visits world... ááá daleks have been revived.. again!*
