Space Patrol Delta? Oh how I hate how things have turned out.
The original, the thunder guys, the Ninja rangers, the Shogun rangers, the Zeo rangers and the Turbo guys to a degree were great Power Rangers series. I grew up on them and the original movie rocked socks. But with 'Lost in Space/Time', 'Ninja Storm' and other rubbish, it lost it's appeal.

Heh, I dont doubt it Kimbo.
The original ones were by FAR the best, personally I see the Movie as the end of the good times. Up to the movie, then the movie. Then no further.
Mainly cos of the CG Zords done well, unlike the rubbish ones of today.
*tuts his tongue out on the bad animation*

I watched an episode of Dino Thunder not so long ago. I want to know why Tommy is still a power ranger.
I loved the old episodes, and a few weeks back I watched the one with the green ranger, and the one where they become Ninjas. So cool lol.
There was one on the other night, I only watched it for a few minutes and Bulk and Skull came on, I still remember their theme!
Also, why is there only 5 rangers in Dino Thunder, whereas in all the other series' there's been 6. 5 originally, but a 6th always came along.

I liked Ninja storm to be fair. I thought it was better than the In Space, Wild Force, Lost Galaxy etc.
Funniest episode ever was a Dino Thunder one, where the Ninja Rangers turned evil. The funny part was where they were all morphing, it was so funny lol.
Is it just me who wonders how they can do the same plot over and over in each series and still carry on?
For example, Big Evil comes, some big mentor guy worries and chooses some Power Rangers. Power Rangers defeat Big Evils little monster, the big evil turns little monster into an 80 foot tall monster. Power Rangers get into their Zord and kill it ending with a 'cool' little pose.
This carries on for a while until the Big Evil gets a 'clever' idea, make evil versions of the Rangers! That happens, they terrorise the town, Good Rangers kick ass, etc.
Then Big Evil sends lots of little monsters everyday for a few months, whilst cooking up a 'big' plan. Big plan comes, Rangers fall out of their Zords in defeat, they get a power boost from something or other and kick ass again. Eventually their power runs out and they get replaced by a new and 'better' set of Rangers.
So repetitive! But probably the longest running childrens programme ever!
Everyone remember when they used to play Power Rangers in school lol? It was so cool.

I watched an episode of Dino Thunder not so long ago. I want to know why Tommy is still a power ranger. Because he's Tommy, and it's quite obvious by now he's never getting away from the job. (For one, the fans won't let him. ) He left during Turbo, showed up briefly years later in Wild Force where he was the leader of a 10-Red Ranger squad to finish off the Machine Empire's remains, and then he turns up in Dino Thunder. Shortly before Wild Force, he'd discovered the Dino Gems and the existence of Mesogog (who is a hardcore villain), and w/ some help from a friend he constructed new Ranger powers out of the gems. He then ended up gaining the Black Dino Gem and became a Ranger after a long time. And there's one great episode where he's in a coma, and in his mind he's fighting his old Ranger incarnations. Very cool action scenes. Everyone loves Bulk and Skull. Coz in the Japanese series it's based on, they only had five Rangers. It's been done before in Turbo and Alien Rangers. Eh? It's pretty much the exact same formula and style, just with better special effects and fight scenes due to 12 years of tech advances & experience. And Power Rangers in Space walks all over Turbo. The plot is far better, and it has the great season finale of every villain launching an all-out assault on the whole universe. In the first three minutes or so, every Ranger ally up to that point has been overwhelmed and multiple planets are under attack, and then things get WORSE for the good guys. 'twas great. I've got the movie and Ninja Storm on DVD, and the CGI Zords seem about on par with each other.

Cheers Arch, you just summed up my thoughts perfectly.
I think the show has mainly suffered from too many constant changes of characters and settings (how many new "ultimate evil overlords" can you possible have?). Whilst the baddies of old such as Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd had a "camp-but-cool" appeal to them, the more recent villains are run-of-the-mill and just plain cheesy, like something out of one of those terrible 1950s B-movies in which a bloke in a carboard suit is trying to take over the world.
The poor writing, constant re-hashing of old storylines and naff effects don't help either. And at least the originals had the ability to laugh at themselves - the more recent series take themselves far too seriously in my opinion.
Overall? Power Rangers was great in its prime, but it should have ended eight or nine years ago.

It always, always sucked. However, my six-year-old mind LOVED the original monsters and robots every week. Highlights? Hatchosaurus, Cyclopsis, Sphinxy boy and the legendary Dragon Zord. Owned.

I think the show has mainly suffered from too many constant changes of characters and settings (how many new "ultimate evil overlords" can you possible have?). Well, they're based off Japanese sentai shows and new ones of them are made every year- they're forced to do changes. Arguably, that keeps the whole thing fresh and allows new generations of sprogs to latch on. And how many evil overlords can you possibly have? NEVER ENOUGH! Give us more evil! ;D Lothor and the Ninja Storm baddies aren't camp-but-cool? They're the first villains in a long time to celebrate a victory by boogieing, and that great exasperated line on minions: "If- *pauses* WHEN they fail..." Effects are better than they were back in the early 90s. The US-original stunt sequences are far much better too. The most recent ones, Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder, take themselves far less seriously most of the time than several of the older series (I'm looking at you, Lost Galaxy). The main villain in Ninja Storm has his ditzy nieces tagging along on work experience, it's very hard to do that seriously. And all pale before the seriousness with which the Green Ranger saga took itself. Evil and Power-Fading Green Ranger = teh r0xx0rz. the legendary Dragon Zord. Owned. Dragonzord was the frigging MAN. And still is.

My fav Zord ever definetly has to be the legendary White Tiger, not only because of the amazing "White Tiger Power" theme.
But the CG Zords in the movie are FAR superior to the Ninja Storm afterwards things.
Mainly cause the entire fight was in CGI and they didnt go from cool CG to actors in buckets like the new ones do. They had a theme and they stuck with it and it rocked beyond all belief. Falcon Zord is a legend in animation history.
Oh, and Bulk and Skull are officially the best 'slapstick' comedy characters ever. EVER.

i actully saw the current one, dino somthing, today on jetix when I was waiting to watch sonic, I was actully impressed.
the story was just a tad pradicatble, but the actors pulled it off which is the rpoblem with a lot of the others, the white ranger seem just to old, but tommy being in it really made it better for me and I guess with it being dinosaus again itjust had that little retro feel to it.
so do the stories of each one actully cross over?
why was tommy called doc, o?
and explain how the old show went on the same for so long but no the new one are once a year at the most?

Tommy Oliver, and he is a Professer of Geology in it, hence they call him "Doctor Oliver."
The series' do run into each other, however none of them have done it well yet.
*attempts the triple back flips Tommy does all the time, lands through a table*

and explain how the old show went on the same for so long but no the new one are once a year at the most? To keep interest, remain as near to fresh as possible and to bring in new lots of viewers. Also for merchandising. It all started when ratings & toy sales went down in the US during MMPR Season 3, so they switched to Zeo to rejuvinate it. Didn't work, and sales & ratings only saw a resurgance with Power Rangers Lost Galaxy. So now they do a new series every year, and it's keeping 'em around. There's always crossovers between last year's & the current year's series (except for Ninja Storm), there was the Wild Force ep uniting 10 former Red Rangers, and we've got Tommy back in action. Lost Galaxy had the most tie-ins for a series of the new direction- they used the Astro Megaship from Power Rangers In Space, crossed over with the Space Rangers, had the former Space Rangers villain be the Pink Galaxy Ranger for 13 episodes and brought back Onyx, a planet of villains.

ahh kindof makes sence now. espiccerly now I have read up on sentai, I guess he keeps the costs down to reinvent it every year, shame is western audince take two seasons to really attch to the chracters. maybe is they just reinvent the program to match the current sentai, but keep the rangers the same, and keep the same name, as they kindof did with mmpr, they might get a amount of viewers
and mangaed to see a copy of red forver this morning it was nice to watch, and by the looks of it complete done by american hands rather then using sentai. shame the red wildforce ranger got all the glory it would have been cool if tommy or jason had. another shame is there was no rocky I sight, but I guess you can't have two mmpr's in the same show

shame the red wildforce ranger got all the glory it would have been cool if tommy or jason had. Well, it was the Wild Force Ranger's show. But he still admits Tommy is the greatest Ranger, and deep down the other Reds know it's true...
