I thought someone else had taken over for Yahtzee this week, also.

God [censored]ing damn it, the site isn't working for me again. Now it won't even bother loading the actual page, nevermind the video. Doesn't even let me see the regular Escapist site. Argh.

Everyone else on the Escapist forums seems to be a bit flummoxed by the voice as well. The consensus that's holding over there is that he's testing new audio equipment, but it is a distinctively lower pitch... there's been no official word about a different actor, though.
Questions about the voice aside, one aspect of the review that I did like especially was the note about minstrels hunting in packs - "clever girl" was worth a laugh.

He starts off sounding completely different, then slowly sounds more like himself as the review goes on. I'd say he had a cold, but it's almost summer in Australia by now.
Anyway, good review (now that I've finally managed to see it). Unfortunate that the Da Vinci contraptions don't play a big part, considering their inclusion was highlighted so much.

"Who thinks this looks cool, beside the gelatinous blobs who like Warhammer 40K"*Eyebrow twitch* Step back, Yahtzee. If I'm going to be playing a scifi wargame I like the models that I'm building to have a bit of stylistic distinctiveness, not all be identical U.S. Marines, no matter how 'impractical' it is.

I'm about to watch the review, but I'm going to say that Darksiders is fantastic. It's God of War without the annoying difficulty (of course, hard mode is nightmarish) and Zelda without the annoying puzzles.
Also, this game was in development before Portal came out.

Surely the point of God of War is that it's pretty challenging? It wouldn't feel as hate-filled and violent if it was easy to piss-easy to slog through all the mythic monsters.
Then again, the only bit that really gave me trouble was the lead up to the final Sister of Fate. That was one hellish corridor.

Don't get me wrong, I adore a challenge, but I don't want to end up wanting to beat myself to death with the controller, and I dont want even the redshirts kicking my ass.

What worries me is that he says they are God of War clones not Devil May Cry clones. Because Devil May Cry came first. Its not a huge worry, dont get me wrong.

Calling Bayonetta a Devil May Cry clone makes sense though

I wouldn't call it much of a clone. seeing as Bayonetta was made by the same guy who made Devil May Cry. More of a little sister.

This week... Well, you'd think the fantards would have learned their lesson after Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but reviewing Borderlands may be Yahtzee's attempt to get them to shut the [censored] up once and for all.
