Yeah, I finished watching this over the weekend. I really liked the Briar Rose episode, I'd probably say that was my favourite, but I thought that the Epitaph One brought about a twist that adds a very interesting dimension to the show. I really hope that we see Alpha again. I love Alan Tudyk. It sounds like we might since it was briefly mentioned that the technology to make sure that no one can be imprinted in Safe Heaven in the future might be down to him.

I just saw S1E13.
Epitaph One makes the show go up that extra level, I think. It's one of those game-changers that makes the plot shift 90 degrees whilst feeling like a natural progression.
I love it.
EDIT: [censored]ING [censored] SEASON TWO STARTS IN A WEEK

EXTRA JAWSOME
I suspect Whedon probably wanted her before now, but Terminator prevented it. She seems an obvious choice for a Doll.

Just finished watching the 2nd season premiere: Dr Saunders' experiences with Alpha and the realisation that she's a Doll causes friction with Topher, but it looks like she's starting to 'evolve' too by the end. Ballard is working with the Dollhouse in return for them helping go after people he couldn't get in the FBI. Looks like he's gonna be Echo's next handler too. Jamie Bamber is the episode's antagonist - who (along with Tahmoh Penikett) is the 3rd BSG alumni I've watched in a new tv show today. Lt Gaeta seems to be becoming a regular in Smallville. And Echo's personalities are coming to the surface to the point that she now knows about them when in her supposedly wiped state. I kinda knew that was gonna happen at some point anyway though. All in all, not a bad episode, but after the way Epitaph ended, I think I'd have prefered to see more of the future to be honest.

Yeah, I expected as much to be honest, I just hope the present-set episodes have a bit more of a long-term direction than this one did. This one felt a bit like the first few of Season 1, before Alpha came into it - ok, but not as good as the ones later on.

Season 2 starts on Sci Fi in about three weeks, October 20 or something like that.

Yeah, I saw a chart of shows that, based on their ratings on the first/first few episodes, could be considered safe or in danger, and I noticed that Dollhouse was red. I'll try to find it. Edit - Here it is: I dont really get how it works (like, how the heck is Heroes safe), but yeah.

I hate the (Nielsen) ratings system. It's such [censored]ing bull[censored]. A small percentage of people are asked to keep track of what they watch for a week and that decides what shows survive or die. Not the real amount of people actually watching it, not the amount of people that watch it overseas (even legally), not the amount of revenue DVD sales bring in. No, a small group of people that could very well have [censored] all taste (which is likely the case when shows like FireFly and Dollhouse get dumped over [censored] like Big Brother and Survivor) have the deciding vote over what I am able to watch.
The stupid system only came into existence because broadcasting was a one-way system when it first started. Today, there's interactive TV; digital TV that could very easily track who's watching what when; and the internet. There's fundamentally no reason why this outdated system should still be in use - and more to the point, deciding what shows live or die.

Forgot to post this here. Despite the blade hanging over the series' head - it will finish its 13 episode run this year. Whether it gets another run after Christmas is up in the air - but there will be "some degree of closure" in the final episodes this year just in case.
Maybe if they do sign it back on for next year they wont put it in such a dumb timeslot.

Cool.
The way American TV works is stupid.

I pretty much agree: I was really surprised when I was informed that was the all-powerful system the use for keeping shows around. Seems incredibly primitive and arbitrary.

Jesus, when did Dollhouse become Dexter? Ok, maybe I'm over reacting... Except I don't feel like I'm over reacting. That episode has almost as good as put me off Dollhouse...

Fair dos. While I enjoy the show, it's never been as good as Whedon's other efforts in my opinion and at least it's ending in a way that allows the writers to properly tie things up.

Yeah, I'd agree. I enjoyed the first series, but the start of this one has dragged badly, to the point where I almost stopped watching.

I dont know what it is about the show so far, but bar the first episode which was ok, the others have just bored me. Maybe showing Epitaph One when they did was a mistake. Everything in the present now just feels a bit like filler.

Epitaph One was intended as a DVD bonus - not part of the season. It really shouldn't be judged in the context of the full series. It's a bit like saying because Fray was set in the far future of the Buffyverse that the rest of Buffy was just filler until then.
