Most Mario spin-offs tend to be good, though.

Mario Party, the last Tennis game and most Mario Karts would like to debate that.

Mario Party, the last Tennis game and most Mario Karts would like to debate that. Well, Mario Party was good up until about 3 (which still makes most of them crap, I guess) and the only Mario Kart that's sub-par is Double Dash. Don't play the Tennis games so I can't really comment. The point is you'd expect most Mario spin-off games to be crap ("Mario playing football now? You've got to be kidding"), but then you play 'em and they're actually pretty good. Whereas Sonic's attempts to do the same usually end up...less than decent.

Except that Dark Brotherhood and All Stars Tennis were both actually pretty decent. Not brilliant, or anything, but still pretty good.
Oddly enough, the worst Sonic game to have come out recently is the one that has Mario in it...

Oddly enough, the worst Sonic game to have come out recently is the one that has Mario in it... Im sure many people will want to argue with you on that one...Apparently Sumo Digital are doing it. And Richard Jacques is doing the soundtrack. This is the game of envitable disappointment. But so far touch wood, there has been nothing released so far that repulses me.

Unleashed was fine. It's actually one of the best Sonic games in a very long while.
Black Knight, I haven't yet had the chance to play. *shrugs*

The whole of Unleashed was flawed. Step forward but flawed. Apparently the Wii version is awful though.
Tracks: Daytona speedway obviously. I hope we get a House of the Dead track where we can run over zombies.

Damn, I knew I was forgetting one series. Also thingy from Yakuza. His special move could be swearing so much all the other racers explode.

^ If only Sega were this awesome. More realistically, we could get Billy Hatcher in some kind of egg-car. One other thing I forgot to mention: That monster truck Robotnik is driving is BADASS. I hope we can crush some Flickies in it.

Also; since there have been the Sonic Riders games, is the only reason why they are making this to provide a competitor for Mario Kart games? Those backgrounds look lovely, though...and Ristar = very yes. ;D

Apart from anything else, I have to say that complaining about Sonic being in a car is pretty petty. Why don't they just carry the ball in football? Why do they use a .22 rifle in the biathlon instead of a 15" naval gun? Why isn't there a staircase leading up to the hoop in basketball? They're sports, and those are just the rules of the game - and it wouldn't be much of a game if you ignored them. It was a stupid thing to complain about in Sonic Riders, so hopefully we can nip it in the bud here.

I think the main problem is that a car is used to achieve high speeds for a race, whereas Sonic really doesn't need one to do that... but I do agree. Its a racing game, it would be a bit weird (and unfair on the other competitors! XD) if Sonic just ran and everyone else had vehicles.

I spose its the same principle of Sonic in a track and field event on S&M at the Olympic Games. :/ Or Tails in a long jump. XD Or Knuckles too for that matter...

It's a Sonic game about racing.
Of COURSE you should be able to just play as Sonic running along! That's what he's all about! Putting him a car in the name of 'sportsmanship' for a race that involves people taking shortcuts and blowing eachother up is ridiculous.

TBH I dont see why they didnt just Sonic R it and have the [censored] people in cars. Like Amy. XD Or Robotnik in his Egg-O-Matic.

Plus there's the little matter of being incredibly exposed if he's running while everyone else has to use cars. That's a recipe for roadkill right there.

Of all the franchises Sega could revive, they opt for Sonic Drift. This fantastic.

I do think its a bit sad that Sonic's car isn't the one from Sonic Drift actually. The car that looked like his shoes.
Actually, I seem to remember in Sonic Jam a few pieces of art with Sonic in a car racing Eggman. And him waiting for a bus.
