If anyone wants to save themselves a bit of money on hotel fairs on this trip, Cal and I are willing to have people stay here with us in Leicester. You still need to pay for your own train fair down to here, as well as train fair from here, (and food and other expenses natch) but after doing some research it can work out cheaper to stay here for two nights, and commute to London with us on the Saturday, then return here, and leave for your own home on the Sunday.
We worked out that if you book a ticket from Leicester on the day it'll cost £50.50, or £33.35 with a railcard. Considering we've had quotes of £60 for a two night stay in London, you'd be saving at least £10.
However, if you book in advance you can get it for as little as £30.00, or £19.80 with a railcard, saving nearly £50 on hotel fairs.
Obviously, check your prices for the trip to Leicester as well. It might work in your favour, but certainly, if you already live south of both Leicester and London, you'll be paying a fortune to double back on yourself. Likewise, if you can get to London and back without needing an overnight stop, there's no point, unless you want to spend the money to stay here.
There are a couple of things to know. Firstly, we've a spare double bed, so two people (or more if you don't mind being packed like sardines) can sleep in it if they wish to share, otherwise bring your own sleeping materials. Being June, it should be warm, but it never hurts to have a sleeping bag if possible. Space is limited, we figure there's room for about six or seven people to stay here, depending on how you want to sleep.
Secondly, since this is actually our house, and not a hotel, if we don't want you here, we've every right to say no, for absolutely unjustified reasons. Obviously, if one of us knows you and feels we can trust you (which covers most the regular members here - certainly the ones we have on MSN, and/or the ones we've met up with before) then it's quite likely we'll say yes. No offence to those people we're not too familiar with, but I doubt anyone here would let a total stranger stay in there house for two nights.
If you want to stay, ask either of us through PM, and we'll let you know if we're willing to let you or not, and if you are welcome, who else has agreed to, just incase there are other Boomers you'd like to avoid being with. It's first come first served too, but I doubt too many people will want to stay here. Either way, if it helps ease the cost a little, don't be afraid to ask.
