If it's meant to be in her head, then just alter the voice a bit via the computer to be a little echoy maybe? Just lemme know if you need any tips on editing if you want to do something like that.

I found that most of the humour was derived from the characters' voices and actions juxtaposing with what was going on (Ui and Yui's lethargic, gravelly voices, the "where's my money" woman, etc.) rather than from a deconstruction of K-On. I appreciate that it'd be quite difficult to do anything with that opening montage, but it doesn't really feel like you've planned out what you were going to say, and it's resulted in most of the joke being swearing in an ill-fitting voice. It wasn't doing much for me, sorry.
That said, "that's my toast!", "I love it when they run", and "this isn't even the right [censored]ing school" are amazing. When it hits its high notes, it hits them hard.

I didn't plan it in the slightest, it's just a day's learning how to use the program. Yeah, it's very puerile, I hope it'll get better.
And De K-On Structed is a terrible name since I have no interest in doing a deconstruction.

Brilliant. Aside from the jokes here are some notes:
00:12 - it's funny cos it's absurd and they are in fact japanese.
00:14 - the dazed blithering perfectly walks the line between piss-take overthetop-y-ness and sounding genuine.
00:30 - you're the best at breathing sounds n grunting n [censored] .///.
00:52 - all these ad-lib bits are great.
01:01 - it's obvious you're trying to keep your voice down :V but obviously not a worthwhile complaint.
I want to say "lol you should totes do full episodes" but actually I think they work better as they are now, as isolated sketches (I've only seen the ones you've linked directly so far. edit: think I've watched them all now, everything is in order).
Also about the girl talking-not-talking hall bit from the other episode: what I meant was there's another girl sat next to her who's mouth is visibly jabbering but there's a sort-of deathly silence (this is before she talks to herself).

I was, but not for the reason you might think - I had an empty house and the first take I just went for it, but then it spiked soooo much. I went and sat at the opposite end of the room and did it, and it just sounded crap. So that was the middleground. |

Slayers is good. It has entertaining characters. I liked Slayers Next best.
Admittedly I don't watch very much anime at present. As foolish as it may sound, the general fandom kind of put me off for a while.

Abenobashi Black Lagoon Code Geass Escaflowne (Series + Film) Full Metal Panic! Ghost Hunt Giant Robo GUNxSWORD Guyver Nadesico (TV + OVA) Read or Die Samurai 7 Slayers Space Adventure Cobra (Series + OVAs) Vandread Devo approves of these. ;D Well, not sure about Space Adventure Cobra. For one thing, I was unaware that there was a series, I thought there was just one film. Second, I've seen two different dubs of this film. The old VHS dub had the better voice acting and a soundtrack by Yello, though they changed the names of certain characters and things. The DVD release kept all the original character names from the mangas, but had sub par acting (IMO) and the original boring Japanese soundtrack. Oh, and that makes a flimsy pretext for the following rant. I hate it when there are multiple dubs of one anime, especially when one dub alters or mistranslates so much of the dialogue that they rewrite certain aspects of the story. Cobra's a shining example of this, although its first English dub was what made those mistakes and was still the better of the two (I think so at least, but then I was still growing up when I first saw the VHS). Another anime that's suffered multiple dubbing syndrome is Doomed Megalopolis. Those of you who collected Manga videos in the 1990's and saw this surely remember how great this OVA was. Great animation, a chilling story, awesome soundtrack... and the dub was superb! All the actors were British and spoke with British accents, the dialogue really helped capture the moods that were set as the show went on, and they even included the occasional Japanese prayer and spell chanting, even accurately translated some traditional Japanese songs. But then in 2002 (I think), ADV received the rights to re-dub Doomed Megalopolis... and they RUINED IT!! The voices all sound American and don't fit the characters very well, the script seems messy in places and a lot of the lines don't seem to really flow right, if that makes sense. The acting just seems really hammy compared to the Manga VHS version, and even the cultural references and the Japanese chanting have all been replaced with lines that don't have the same meaning that the originals did. The ADV dub's only saving graces are that none of the animation itself was edited and they kept the original soundtrack. Nonetheless, I recommend finding the VHS and finding some way of preserving it digitally, because if you watch both to make a comparison, I guarantee you'll find the VHS dub preferable. |

And yeah Stu, the list was made from three different recommendation lists from 4chan- one from /a/, two from /m/. Nothing from /co/ because their list sucks and doesn't even include Aeon Flux, it's basically just for nostalgia'ing with Disney Afternoon crap. Bah.

I've taken great pains to only put good stuff in the thread, and could explain at length why it's all brilliant. There is a lot of risible [censored]e in that list, just bad shows for boring people.
