I just finished book 5 at long last (started reading it a few weeks ago) As good as it was... Did anything actually happen? Other than the fact Dumbledoor said out loud in front of Harry I care for you more than a normal student and that Harry's dad was a bit of a git, oh yeah and a certain someone died... is there any progress from the fourth book at all?

Erm, the wizarding world discovers that Voldemort is in fact back?
Oh, and Percy becomes estranged from the rest of the Weasleys.
And Lucius Malfoy gets sent to Azkaban.
And Firenze is thrown out of the centaur herd.
And Harry finds out there's a rather ominous prophecy about him that is the reason his parents are dead.

I finish the 5th Harry Potter book in 5 days and my bro got me the 6th book the day it came out (he had to queue up at 12 in the morning to get for and his gf) and gave it at 1:30 pm that day and all I could do was read it I was up till 4:40 in the morning then I got about 4 hours sleep and then I finish it within 3 hours. The films however can never compared to be as good as the books the first film and the second were great the third was a bit of a let down it could've been better than that

I dont know if anyone has seen it yet but on the goblet of fire website theres a new trailer for the film that has lots of stuff.. including mad eye moodys eye which looks... well... odd...
Also if you pause it in the right place you can see what the death eaters look like and they are scary.
In terms of scale this film looks like is going to be the biggest yet. but if its the best... we'll have to see.

@ JC: Yeah, I've seen both of those trailers. Alastore's magical eye looks rather mechnical. I was expecting it would be a large fake eye with no eyelids.
The Death Eaters didn't impress me much though. They looked like Ku Klux Klan guys but in black robes rather then white. Not very frightning at all.

I like the Moody design, largely because he looks absolutely nothing like my mental version of him. Always nice to see different interpretations.

It did look mechanical when I first saw it and it didnt bug me after I thought about it, but the trailer is a little misleading. The eye looks more mechanical, but thats just how moody sees things *a POV shot.* Just now on film 2005 it looks like... Well kinda like how you described... only it moves really, really fast like a hamster injected with speed.
Also on trailer 2 if you pause it as mad eye moody arrives and then go back to the previous shot (of the death eaters and wizards running.) then go back to the show before that, and click the previous frame button (if you have one) until the very start of this tiny sequence in the trailer... you can just make out the dark mark... it reminded me of batman forever.

I hope thats not music from the film, it sounds horribly cliched, especially after John Williams return to form on film three.
This trailer has muted my enthusiasm somewhat, right now I'm only going so I can see the new Dr Who.

Just found out that the mighty Eric Sykes will be playing Frank Bryce. Nifty.

(well worth it - the production is completely fantastic in every respect. my favourite new tv show of the year.)

I did see a bit of it when it was on, looked pretty groovy. I just like the idea of Dr Who teaming up with Harry Potter, or better yet fighting Harry Potter. Ya just know a Sonic screwdriver could take out a wand, I'd like to magic try to overcome the reversal of the the polarity of the neutron flow, ha... It was this same reluctance to identify characters and actors as seperate that has Chloe from Smallville once dating Seth from the OC...

Brand new trailer came out today, and its a very good one indeed. Lots of new fottage and lots of glimpses of new characters in action including footage of... "he-who-must-not-be-named..." a very very quick glimpse of Rita, But what does look impressive are the shots of the tri-wizard tournament at night. And also Hagrid dancing! www.hpana.com/news.18812.htmlAlso some sad news for fans of the films... breaking from convention this film shall not feature the classic Dursley beginning scene! Aparently it was cut for time reasons. see here... www.hpana.com/news.18820.html

That trailer is cool. I think that quick glimpse of Voldemort is him when he's that more primitive body, before he can return to power properly, which, I think, should be saved until the film is actually released. Shame to hear about the Dursley's. I always feel their appearence at the start is a nessacity ('cause that's where the whole thing starts for Harry, isn't it? (Then again, I'm probably just dissapointed not to actually see Dudley with a mammoth tounge or the Weasley's destroying the Dursley's fireplace! ) EDIT: Am I the only one who thinks adding in the Yule Ball in the film was a ridiculous move? I felt the Ball was just a unnessacary waste of time as it wasn't relevant to the plot. If they cut the Yule Ball out of the film, then it'd give them plenty of room to add scenes they had to edit out.

The Ball is extremely relevant to the Ron/Hermione relationship sub-plot. So nyer.

The Ball is extremely relevant to the Ron/Hermione relationship sub-plot. So nyer. True. Quite true. We need the catalysts for the relationship to florish properly. It's also a nice 'feel good' factor for the film amongst all that doom and gloom. I think they should add the deleted scenes to the Video/DVD version. At the pictures I must admit that COS did seem to drone on towards the end. But that is also my favorite film (before Goblet ) and I would LOVE to see all the small scenes they took out added back into the film. At home we have the choice to stop a film and watch the rest later, so adding the scenes to the home version would be a good thing.

Found this scan of a 2006 GoF calendar on Mugglenet.com and it's so nifty I had to share. Karkaroff in front of the Wizengamot with a suitably demented Barty Crouch Jr. in the foreground:
