And they don't provide any editing for their "OELs" written by people who've never made a graphic novel before, which is just incompetent.

I don't particularly care for who publishes whatever I read anyway, but when they're trying to take away the artists rights, that's just stupid and will not win them any friends.
Also, am I the only person who despises comic covers with speech bubbles on them? Because I think they look tacky and they bloody annoy me.

The first issue of The DFC turned out to be excellent. Recommended.

This is extra amusing when Tokyopop calls all its Western comics "global manga" - manga creators in Japan getting the rights to their own creations... An equally impassioned, but slightly more reasonable, response to it all. He's being a tad idealistic, but he makes a fair point or two.[/quote] His point is "the blogosphere should be addressing that people will sign rights out of desperation!" - which blogs had been. And have before. He still admits the Tokyopop contract is horrible too.

Not saying he didn't (it'd be foolish not to), but he does shift the focus somewhat.

Hey Folks
Here's fun: Can anyone tell me what they like about comics in general; what attracts you to them, what makes you keep coming back, what reels you in, if you like. What really gets you about the medium? Go!

It's quite unique as a medium in that it requires the audience to use both halves of their brains.

I like the escapist quality to it, having grown up across the road from a bog in Ireland.

Oh dear. I'm actually quite the fan of the KotOR series, but those two cover arts left a big, stupid grin on my face. I thought comics these days had outgrown that sort of thing. I've recently gotten into Bleach and have volumes 1 - 8. Will buy more once I can afford to. It's a fantastic series and actually has me genuinely laughing. Some really great drama too. Looking forward to reading the Soul Soceity arc and what comes after. I'm going to be a geek and re-read volume 3 on June the 17th. Really want to get my hands on more Dragon Ball too...

The amusing thing about the first cover is that Karath allows Zayne to help him Carth escape and as for the second cover, it seems that the exogorths killed quite a few people anyway.

On the other hand, the dialogue-including style makes for great parody covers these days.

True.
Here's a question. What do most people prefer; JLA or JSA?

Well, I've bought a few comics/graphic novels from Waterstones. I'm stick with what I somewhat know! I.e. Batman and Justice League!
There was just so much Marvel stuff I didn't know what to begin with.
I got Batman: The Killing Joke (Deluxe Edition) and Justice Parts 1 and 2.
I did think Justice was a complete story in the two books. Until, I used the internets and discovered there was a 3rd part. But I'm loving it. [censored] [censored]ing happens in it. That's all I'm saying. Amazing art as well.
Killing Joke was cool as well. It was interesting seeing the Joker when he isn't trying to kill everyone!
