It seemed to work well for music and games... Favourite artists, favourite writers, what's on your standing order, discuus away. No whinging, or earnest discussion of who would win in a fight between [blank] and [blank] because it's just tacky.

With the exception of STC (and the odd issue of the Simpsons Comics) the only comic I have read is Frank Miller's Robocop. It was meh. If this was meant to be what if Frank Miller's Robocop 2 script not been "butchered" by Hollywood then I can't see the difference. The story plays very much like Robocop 2 + Robocop 3. It drops the drug angle from Robocop 2 and inserts the REHAB officers from Robocop 3. The artwork is good but a bit too busy for my liking. Plus the 300 reference was bad. On the plus side, its nice to see Lewis kick arse. Despite being moments away from a wardrobe malfunction. Luckily we didn't get to see Robocop fly again. Ending: Robocop kisses Lewis and then Robocop pretty much becomes Batman. I'm not [censored]ting you.

I read collected volumes of a lot of Vertigo imprint stuff ('cause I'm so hip and all that), mostly Gaiman and Moore, but I occasionally branch out and read the odd Marvel volume here and there. Marvel 1602, obviously, since it's a Gaiman work, I enjoyed the Runaways for a single volume. Oh, and dunno what imprint it's on, but I read a great deal of Fables and that was fairly kickarse. I'm not really one for buying stuff by issue. Unless you count the weekly downloaded manga (which I go on to buy in collected form in stores, rah rah moral highground).
Speaking of which, are you only talking Western comics here? Because I suspect a Wap revolt may occur if so... or a separate thread that dies quickly like all the other manga threads.

I feel like rereading Ultimate X-Men again (all of it... well, what I have so far anyway)... but don't really have the time...
Tis a bit irritating. As is the need to buy moar comics and yet, having no money to spare for it right now.

I've been reading and loving a lot of Ultimate Marvel recently; not a big fan of the regular 616 universe. Favourite graphic novel volumes include Earth X, Universe X, Watchmen. DC's 52 was a favourite for a while, too. The Question makes for a good read. Strangely enough, I'm not very aware of which writers and artists I like. It's never been something I've taken much notice of. --Ray

Picked up Loners a few days ago. Was pretty impressed, but not the greatest comic ever, with at least one majorly dodgy bit. MYSTERIOUS GIRL APPEARS! LETS TRUST HER! OH NO SHE'S A ROBOT! Also, whats happening with Phil Urich? I like his style. Mostly read Marvel comics, the occasional Yu-Gi-Oh manga (whenever they decide to release the next edition, been waiting over a year). Oh, and Herr Starr from Preacher is the great thing ever.

To be honest I don't read many comics bar STC/O. However I am a firm believer that the world needs more/a film of Deadpool.

Enjoy.[edit]Also, found this review of Ultimate Apocalypse on wikipedia: "Jean then destroys Apocalypse, reverting him back into Sinister followed by a giant cop-out where she serves as a huge deus ex machina making sure no one remembers Apocalypse except the X-Men for some reason. Sinister's fate afterwards is unknown. Angel is restored to life and Wolverine's body and healing factor are fully restored, effectively negating the Wolverine Cable out of existence. This presentation of Apocalypse is utter [censored]." So true.

Star Wars comics have always been amongst my favourites. I speak not of the recent Legacy or Knights of the Old Republic series, but rather of the earlier issues that later became Star Wars: Republic.
I still enjoy perusing my TPBs of brilliant story arcs such as Outlander (my favourite, because Ki Adi Mundi was the main character and there was a Tusken Raider with a lightsabre), Emmissaries to Malastare (because half the Jedi Council were in it, as was the son of the aforementioned Tusken Raider with a lightsabre, who himself wielded two of said blades, both of which were red), The Hunt For Aurra Sing and the original Quinlan Vos trilogy (Twilight, Darkness and Rite of Passage).
The comics remained great after the series transfomred into Republic and began to run Clone Wars stories, although I've only read those as part of the TPB Clone Wars series.
That's all I'll say on the topic for the time being.

There have been some good moments, but I can't say I've been a fan of Robert Kirkman's run with the series.

I also read Roy Of The Rovers, STC and occasionally Batman (last one I bought was the one after the ressurection of Ra's). Oh and I began reading Buffy Season 8 and Angel Season 6 but so far I have no cash to buy the new Season 6 and Season 8 sucks.

For a while I read most of the Paninni "Marvel Collector's Edition" line; all of the high-priced, prestige format reprints of the American originals.
Avengers United was my favourite. Initially, though, I only got it for the JLA/Avengers crossover reprint, but to my dismay the third issue of it was annoyingly absent from the shelves in every newsagent and WHSmith I visited.

Those are brilliant, true. I used get all of them, then I went to college and only Spidey and Avengers. Probably gonna drop Avengers though. Bendis annoys me.

I stopped getting all of them when I realised I was spending three quarters of my monthly pocket money buying them. Money well spent, certainly, but I was saving up for something else and just never got around to starting to buy them again.

Buffy season eight is simply terrific. So is Bendis' Avengers. I don't know what parallel universe comics you guys are reading...
My faves right now are Amazing Spider-Man (three times a month!) and Secret Invasion (which is what Bendis' Avengers has been leading up to since the very beginning). Also rather loving the new-format Criminal, and my eyes will stain with tears after next week's final Astonishing X-Men by Joss'n'John. She-Hulk, however, has vanished from my standing order pile. It just wasn't the same after Dan Slott left.
Actually I rather love Ultimate Spidey as well. I don't miss Bagley even a little bit because Stuart Immonen is an absolute genius. There's lamentably little else I'd actively recommend at the moment though (still ten books is a good lot even if most of them do involve some sort of Spidery person).

My faves right now are Amazing Spider-Man (three times a month!) Is that the post-One More Day stuff, because that was more of a mess than the original clone saga. Oy. I've collected all Ultimate Spidey-Man stuff, and although Bagley was good for the first three or so volumes, his work slipped pretty quickly. Immonen is an excellent replacement, although he over does it with the inking. Recently, however, I've been getting into the Ultimates, with the plot as good as the art. In fact, the whole damned Ultimate series is great.

<3 The Ultimates. Even the confusing second series. I don't really have much love for their 616 counterparts, but the Ultimate incarnations of the characters are fantastic. Plus, in the Ultimates, Iron Man isn't a complete prick at the moment either!

Well, I've only got the first two volumes, which I presume is series 1. Although, I think I prefer the US-M version of Nick Fury, who comes across as more of a Samuel L. Jackson, backstabbing, mo-fo than the Ultimates version.

In Ultimate Spidey, and Ultimate X-Men, he generally just turns up to be a prick to the protagonists and remind them that he's the guy in charge. Except, of course, that right now he's not, since the Supreme Power crossover - which was pretty rubbish - locked him away in another dimension for... well... being a prick. I wouldn't be surprised if he came back and revealed he was a Skrull, lol.

Anyone who tells you that Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels are different things isn't worth your time. I love Yotsuba&!, just wish they could say when volume 6 is coming out. I even quite liked the Yotsuba&! porn I found (thankfully Yotsuba herself wasn't in it). Although, I think I prefer the US-M version of Nick Fury, who comes across as more of a Samuel L. Gargoyles -- Astonishing scope and detail Talk about jam-packed. Really rewards close, intelligent scrutiny. Gargoyles: Bad Guys -- Plagued by a long delay, but #2 is pure adrenaline and fun. Atomic Robo -- Hilarious. The Circle -- Gorgeous, atmospheric, canned. Though the story never quite lived up to my expectations it's still a shame. Salt Water Taffy -- Old-fashioned family holiday adventure with lots of quirky stuff and comedy. Y: the Last Man -- Petered off badly but since there's only one trade left... Usagi Yojimbo -- Just getting into it. Like it, don't love it.
I adored the old Archie TMNT Adventures series back in the day and I hear Clarrain & Allan are teaming up in the new TMNT series. I've read a bit (not their stuff) and I just don't find it gripping really. But I'll probably keep a weather-eye in case something tickles my nostalgia bone. And they're trying to get together a special one-off GN release of the Turtles story they were doing when Archie axed them in 95, Forever War, which should be pretty cool.
A bunch of other things appeal to me based on the creators' other work or comics I've read off the shelf or from Bristol, or web previews or free comics or just cool concepts. Transhuman, Hero By Night, Godland, Fables (been planning to get into that since uni), Pyongyang.
A few others things I may buy if I see a good deal some day. I liked the first Invincible but the genre as a whole isn't fascinating to me. Astounding Wolf-Man. Strangers in Paradise (looks fun but it's so long and I fear disappointment six trades in...). Hellboy looks like something I'd enjoy.
Oh, and they're releasing big collections of Carl Barks and Don Rosa strips at ridiculous prices. Aarg. Want.

Bleach has gotten sickeningly good again lately. The Bleach manga is fantastic. I was a bit put off by the sudden flash-back mini-series, though. Right before Ichigo vs. Ulquiorra round 2.
