What does everyone think of the song choice? I'm kinda liking it, although some of the choices are questionable. The Sonic selection's all well and good, but I don't think there's anything from the original Mega Drive games, which is a bummer. Is it really so hard to remaster the [censored]ing things? Sonic Rush also gets a bit too much love for my liking, but I'm loving the Adventure choices, and got a nice surprise in the form of Palmtree Panic Present (Japanese version, natch'). The others are okay - Jet Set Radio's always awesome (although the Let Mom Sleep remix takes ages to get going), but I found the rest to be a bit meh. Not bad, but just not exceptional or particularly memorable.
Although don't ever listen to to the bloody thing on the DS version. Honestly, the sound quality of the [censored]ing horrible MIDI tracks makes me want to tear off my ears and feed them to a badger, thus proving that Sega are completely incompetent when it comes to sound quality on a DS (Sonic Chronicles, anyone?).

Wow. That was nerd rage right there, I apologize. It's definitely better than Chronicles, but still a lot worse than Sega have a plausible excuse for.

Well, that's the thing in a game like this. In Melee (not so much Brawl, I found either the remixes or the song choice kinda threw the list off a bit), the song list was perfect - the perfect blend of nostalgia and action, so the player could appreciate what is, essentially, a massive tribute in the form of a game. The music is an integral part of the experience, as all games' musics are inexorably linked with them. However, in the case of this game, it seems they chose the most half-assed options they could. I mean, the only ones I can actually whole-heartedly agree with are the Adventure choices and Palmtree Panic. I mean, Green Hill Zone AT LEAST should have been in there, in order to enhance the nostalgic experience, and thus the tribute. At least, that's the way I would handle it.

Oh good [censored]ing lord, Sonic's in a car. Sonic with a sword wasn't bad enough for SEGA, Sonic's in a car...
I knew this was coming, first it was Sonic with a princess, Sonic with a flaming arrow sticking out of his chest, Sonic as a warewolf and Sonic with a sword... The sword wasn't bad enough for SEGA, obviously they had to take the series to a whole new low.
Amy in a car? No problem. A stuffed animal for Tails' metal form? Stupid, but not 'stupid', Sonic in a car? What the hell SEGA?
I've known about this for a few months, and that was my exact reaction. "Sonic's in a car now... Lovely..."
Maybe he broke both his legs?
If SEGA ever remakes Sonic Racing for Saturn / PC I'm going to be the first in line to buy it because that's the only racing game I've ever liked, and one of the only two 3-D Sonics I've ever loved.
And that was probably the only Sonic game (my opinion) that had music with good lyrics. (I do not like Crush40...)

Good point, I forgot about Sonic Drift. I unlocked it on DS, and to this day I'm still surprised that game got a sequel. Now that I remember, I thought Sonic in a car was a stupid idea then. ;D Also I have Sonic R on Gems (and PC, somewhere...) but I want a remake with better graphics, cut-scenes and physics. (The game's physics were pretty good for that age though.) Oh good [censored]ing lord, Sonic's in a car. Sonic with a sword wasn't bad enough for SEGA, Sonic's in a car... Get in line. ;D I would be fair about that, also, but I doubt Sonic would.

Shaymay, Crush40 are rubbish.
So I finally got around to playing this yesterday. It's basically Diddy Kong Racing. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Crush 40 are awesome. When they're not being rubbish. I Am... All Of Me and All Hail Shadow were crap, but some of their original stuff, like Fire Woman ('kay, it's a cover, but... um...) is great. All cheesy though. Old Jaleel White Sonic, or STC Sonic probably wouldn't, spouting some crap about how they've got "the need for speed" or something, but Sega's Sonic's a nice guy! Everything in his world's sunshine and flowers! "Do I need a reason to help out a friend?" [censored]ing mug.

Everything Crush40 have done is terrible. Listen to better and cheesier music instead.
Jaleel's Sonic sometimes said "I feel the need, the need for speed" and other lame crap like that.
Dude, if I was Sonic I'd never leave off on mentioning how [censored]ing fast I was. I would also be incredibly unwitty about it.
Or rob stuff.

Crush 40 are the musical equivalent of sitting down for a much-needed dump, but having to do so in such a hurry that you end up sitting in someone else's cold piss.

Crush 40 are the musical equivalent of sitting down for a much-needed dump, but having to do so in such a hurry that you end up sitting in someone else's cold piss. This made me laugh so hard... Not -all- of their songs are terrible... Only 99.9% of them are. Some of them aren't bad to listen to, but the lyrics will make your ears bleed. All Hail Shadow is probably the worst. It sounded like some 12 year old emo metalhead fanboy sent it in thinking it was "DA KEWLEST TING EVUR!" Did they write all the songs for '06? Because I liked Silver's credits song. The lyrics were crap, the melody and instrumentals were nice. I think they would be a great band if they didn't sing. Speaking of '06, Sonic's credit song can induce vomiting and ear bleeding to anyone who liked Sonic 2's music because they added very bad, corny lyrics to it...

Nah, I think Silver's was done by Bentley Jones. It's called "Dreams Of An Absolution". And Sonic's was definitely not done by them, I don't even want to know what it's called. It made me cry, and not because it was a sad song, but because it basically was the equivalent of a child's father being raped in front of their very eyes. Traumatizing. And yeah, All Hail Shadow was [censored]ing awful.

Didn't they also write Sonic Adventure's "Open Your Heart?" Edit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYc8C8oiBtUThat's the song, in case anyone didn't know (The one that doesn't blow, I mean.) Listening to the lyrics, they're still bad, but not as bad as I thought originally because I realize it's a girl singing this song, it sounded different in those credits.

Yeah, C40 did Open Your Heart. I like that one. And actually, Sonic '06 hardly featured any Crush 40. They did a cover for Shadow's theme and that's about it, I THINK. It was Zebrahead who did His World.

It was Zebrahead who did His World. Crush 40 did the instrumental version of His World though, if I recall correctly (and strangely enough as much as I dislike Crush 40's music I reckon it's the only version of that song that doesn't completely suck dong).

Why? getting in sonic's mind: " having a blu supercool racing-car makes a supercool dude as me even cooler! Sega's mind: It's fun and it will at 99% sell! Onestly it's cool for me! Immagine how lame would it be to do always the same in the games! And I liked the sword!

Immagine how lame would it be to do always the same in the games! Ask Nintendo. Sonic can run at mach 5, a race car goes 200 miles per hour. Tails can keep up with Sonic when flying and so can Knuckles and, by now, every other character (and I'm ignorring '06's logic because '06 sucked monkey balls.) Really, they should have just remade Sonic R, that came would look amazing in today's graphics... And the music from it is amazing, wonder who did it...
