As someone mentioned, it's pretty much down to habit more than anything. I grew up more with Metallix than with Metal Sonic (considering how few things he's been in compared to the major Metallix appearances) so when I see that design the name is just habit to say.

Aw, Alex has his motorbike! Excellent.
I like Billy's eggmobile too. Not sure on Beat's "pimpéd-out ride", as I believe the terminology is.

Aw, Alex has his motorbike! Excellent. Looks more like a Super Hang-On bike. Still awesome. Also, they seemed to have changed that retarded-looking model they used in Tennis. Kind of loving Amy's car, too. And Eggman's monster truck is fantastic. This game seems alright.

If that's the Wii version, it's got surprisingly high graphical fidelity.

I'm just hoping that there aren't any more Sonic characters. And I'm hoping that "over 15 characters" comment was just made by someone who makes coffee at Sega.
I mean after Nintendo; Sega and Capcom are the only companies that have a rich character history line up thing. Capcom seems happy just to pair up its characters with comic book/anime characters rather than just making their version of Super Smash.
And Sega just cant seem to use its whole arse.

I still think it's high time we saw Chuck and Head again.
Or perhaps Joe Musashi.

Considering the majority of Capcom characters used in such games are Street Fighter characters - there's absolutely no point to it when they could just make, y'know, Street Fighter. There needs to be a proper Nintendo vs Sega SSB though.

I've read some previews and impressions of the game that more or less point to the game playing almost exactly like Mario Kart- which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your taste for Mario Kart. Personally, it's fine be me: This will be a fun alternative to play on live and with friends. I could never get into playing online with Mario Kart Wii- the game just didn't do too much for me.
Also, apparently most, if not all, of the Sonic characters have been revealed and there's still some surprise characters waiting to be revealed.
