It's exactly one month until Europe gets a dose of the Evil, folks. ONE MONTH. Can ya wait that long? Can ya? I pre-ordered my copy from Game about 2 weeks ago. ;D NGC's newest issue came out yesterday, with a sixteen-page review and a bunch of free stickers. They gave it 97%, making it their joint highest-rated 'Cube game alongside Wind Waker and the original Metroid Prime. Anyway, the over-excitement starts here.  |

This is looking like the first Resi game that captivates me to buy it.

I love the idea of the death animations for Leon. Sin sent me a video of about one hundred of them strung together with some crazy country music.

I juts want to re-live the RE2 glory days where if I shot a zombie in the head with a shotgun it explodes and doesnt fall over cheaply as with the next gen res evils.

A) It's perfectly possible to explode heads in the Remake, etc. B) There's plenty of cranial-bursts in 4, despite the fact you're not fighting zombies. C) There is no C. |

This pleases me.
But I think it was either code veronica or one of the gamecubes they didnt explode, just chest bits flew off and they fell down...
Now bow gun bolts impaling the crows. that was a fun game.
And they need another tyrant 103 bursting through the press room moment again. That made me jump the first time it happened. then when I left the room I so wasnt expecting it to burst back out again! Is there a single soul who plaid Re2 and not jumped at that moment?
More moments like that!

Well, RE4 has Dr Chainsaw - a charming fellow with a paper bag over his head, a large chainsaw, and a habit of turning up just when you don't want him to. |

I am a rather large fan of Resident Evil, and I can safely say that I am certainly NOT looking forward to number 4. From what I've read in previews and stuff, it's gonna be completely 3D, no zombies and an over the shoulder views when shooting. They've gotten rid of all the key things that make it Resident Evil.

It does have zombies, it just also have insane humans trying to hack you to pieces. Trust me, RE4 will have its fair share of supernatural freaks who are all after your blood and some.
Anyway, I should mention that the Benny Hill killing video I mentioned can't be downloaded again for the origional place I got it. But if you talk to me over messanger (dvdx@hotmail.com) then I'll send it to you (you might also want to ask Retro because he also has it I think).

They've gotten rid of all the key things that make it Resident Evil. What, like the puzzles? The second character you control for a bit? The mixture of old and new characters (Ada Wong finally returns here)? The hideous monsters? The gothic-tinged enviroments? (There's a castle and a ruined abbey this time round.) All in there. If it was exactly the same as all the old ones people would be whinging that Capcom aren't doing anything new with the franchise. |

This game is mostly excellent. It doesn't start to get really scary until a few hours in, when you reach the castle and all those hooded monks are walking around. Also, the confrontation with the beardy chief guy was awesome and shocking.  It's pretty funny how we haven't heard from Samface in three days. We've LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSST HIIIIIIIM!! |

*falls out of cupboard, Luis-style* So yeah. The thing is, I got it on Friday but I came home on Saturday and had to leave me 'Cube at uni. So I just spent all day Friday playing, clocking up about seven hours and knackering my neck. Then I'm on rubbishy rubbish dial-up at home so I don't use the net much here. Anyway, I got as far as finishing chapter 3, and I can safely say this is a fine, fine game. And distressingly satisfying. Just one more villager to kill...sate my bloodlust...yeeeep. And I don't get to play it again 'til mid-April.  |

Hmm, might pop down to the local games shop and pick up and Resi4 package if its so good then.
Just a quick question, for someone totally new to the series, am I likely to start playing this and find the story totally confusing or something you can figure out as long as you got two brain cells to rub together?

That sucks, Samface.  I completed it and am on my second go, with funky alterna-costumes! The cheesy scene where Luis comments on Ashley's breasts makes a lot more sense now she's dressed like a stripper.  RSM: It summarises the entire storyline at the beginning of Resi 4. Buy it buy it buy it now!! |
