I don't really like thinking of the word. I'm happy it's filtered. Lakit: I know you know what it means but you make it sound like it's a casual word that people use all the time. Where I live it is used all the time. And it is a casual word. For example: "You Arsehead" Would be more of an insult than: "You silly b-ugger"

I know but it's quite hard to beleive that most people say it (people on the street or people in my school) don't know what it means. I already know that everybody on the forum knows what it means. I think it's quite surprising it's not considered as a bad word.

I think it's quite surprising it's not considered as a bad word. Mainly because people dont take it seriously - in fact its taken so lightly its more comical than offensive. You shouldn't take it to heart really - but it's your choice if you say it or not.

I think it's quite surprising it's not considered as a bad word. Because it depends what context it's used in. If its in the verbal sense then it is rude. However its also a friendly name to call someone. Same goes for "mate".

Most people just hop on the swearing bandwagon when young, without a clue what the words mean. I didn't know what [f-word 0.0] meant for years.

When I was about seven I heard the f-word being said so I copied them but my mum heard me and told me what it meant and stopped me from saying it.

If you look at my sig you will see the pink panthor song, or you should see it, but the filter is changing the do's into dooh's which now means it makes no sence

That's odd. I shall investigate! ;D *dons deerstalker* EDIT: Don't have a cluse why it's doing that. No words along those lines in the filter.

Yes, I changed that, but then someone changed it back. We can say "God" and "Jesus" but not "Damn"?

Actually the word d a m n is very offensive to some people. For example, my piano teacher is Christian and she was quite shocked when I said it once in a lesson, and she thinks of it as being a swear word.
To be honest I don’t think it should be blocked but it isn’t my forum and it isn’t my place to change anything like that.

Im not suggesting it isn't offensive, I'm just pointing out that "God" and "Jesus" aren't censored.

Well, ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ are not at all offensive to anyone just being used. It is when they use the names to reprosent annoyance that religious people get offended. D a m n, on the other hand is always offensive, no matter how it is used in.

I've taken centre=center out of the banned words list. I think it was just added in so that people wouldn't get confused about the American/English style of spelling things, but if it is sig messing up then it had gotta go.

Ha! Who added the British spelling corrections to American spelling? That's crazy! Wish I'd thought of it. Nice thought; pity it won't really work without being obtrusive. Oh well, I'm not really bothered by American spelling these days... the internet has made me immune!

I don't want to look at American spelling incase it changes my beautiful english spelling. It would only be disruptive.

...ya know, there are Americans on the board too though. Although it's a predominately English board, they shouldn't have to use English spellings.

Another interesting fact, someone has made it so if you swear (or try to dodge the swear filter) it sometime changes the word to 'Chovi'.
